Are men tired of making the first move?
Posted : 27 Nov, 2010 12:47 PM

I'm kind of old fashioned about this and would rather wait for a man to contact me first. Are men just so fed up with making contact first that they want to wait for the woman or what?

On an internet dating site, the men do not always make the first move. There is nothing too forward or brazen about you contacting the man first. You are simply introducing yourself and saying you'd like to know someone better.

I always reply to any contact. I feel to do so otherwise is rude and unchristian. Remember that 1) not everyone here is a Christian, and 2) not everyone here will treat you the same way. Develop a thicker skin or you will be constantly hurt and feel rejected.

One more problem that has been noticed by me and mentioned by others is that there is no way to tell if a profile here is still active or not.

Thanks for that, Godslamb. I wasn't aware of that last bit of information you shared. Appreciate the reply!

I can tell you,i was a little bored growing up in my teen years making my move & nothing is returned back. I believe that if a woman is interested in a man, then it's ok to make the first move-really! The man wo'nt know how you feel if you do'nt TELL HIM!!!! On here though,it will be a little different since most women here prefer the man to message them more than making one.I can tell ya,it's tough to me when it goes that way since i do'nt know if she as a lady & makes me wonder if she has something on her mind that she can share with me ,but since i still get replies to all of my messages,i could live with that! Women can make the move here as well, but it sometimes feel akward to me when that happens!!!

godslamb, I've tried to e-mail some gals who still have profiles on here and have had a message appear THEN that they are no longer a member ... but at other times e-mails go for weeks (or longer, if ya decide to keep waiting) marked as "Message not yet read", and I kinda suspect this is because those gals stopped checking out their account on CDFF without bothering to delete it or they simply forgot after a while they still had a CDFF account ... one gal responded to one of my e-mails to let me know SHE wasn't aware that her profile was still on CDFF and tell me she was too busy to write to anyone here because she was going to school full-time, had a job etc.

mrwiseguy~~

See? I've had that "it's not lady like" thing in my head for WAY too many years to do away with it very easily. I suspect that I will just continue the way I have been and leave it all in God's ample hands and care. Probably just the best way for ME to go!

Sure do appreciate all the thoughts and advice from everyone! :applause:

@ Tulip~~ I think that Ruth was taking a huge chance. I'm not saying it wasn't the right thing for her to do though. And I have gone out on a limb several times. Just haven't had any real strong convictions that I'm to push the envelope too far. Maybe if there was a profile that I felt really spoke to me then I think I'd be more willing to try. So far, not so much.

Thanks!

I am kind of shy, so I don't mind when a woman contacts me first.
