Boy to man ritual...."MANHOOD"

I read a post today that brought this to my mind......

I feel in our modern society boys and men are being cheated out of something that affects some for a life time. Not only them but also all those they have relationship with and become responsible for. I feel when a man can point to a time in his life and say. "This is the time I became a man" it makes him a better man. I also feel this is why we have so many young men in there twenties and early thirties still acting like teenagers. Anyway here is my question : (gals you can play to!)

If you could institute a 'boy becoming a man ritual' what would it be?

I live in a area with a hugh hispainic population. They have a coming of age celebration on a girls 15th birthday called a (can't spell it) pronunciation = kin- se- atta

(twosparrows)

It is my Indian name : It is traditional in our family for the father to give his child a Indian name as a reminder to the child when he is older of he heritage; so that it is not swallowed up and forgotten by the white mans ways. This is done by the father looking outside immediately after the child is born, the first thing he sees is the childs indian name. My father looked out and saw a dog popping as two sparrows flew over......he chose wisely.

*just kidding*

Matt 10:29 "Are not TWO SPARROWS sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from.the will of your Father"

Thanks for that question and here is why: I wrote the verse from memory then went to the Bible to check for mistakes. I had written "the Father" ....it should be. "your Father". It was really cool to notice that difference as it makes the verse twice as good!
