Should married women vote just like their husbands?

My mother just copies my father's absentee ballot. But, it's not really a submission thing; she just doesn't like voting.

Should a couple be united in how they vote? Is copying okay, or is that irresponsible?

I think it is of the most extreme importance that both the man and the woman independantly vote as they individually feel fit.

Of course politics and particulary chosing a fit candidate to grant your vote to, can or perhaps even should be openly and honestly discussed in a relationship, yet the man has no right to expect that his wife thinks and feels the same way he does just because he is the lead of the family.

Also, a christian man cannot start to bible-fence his wife into voting like he does, in the name of voting like a united family, in neat harmony....

And just imagine what the politicians are going to do when they even smell that christian wives feel or are obliged to vote the same as their husband....

I agree with Tulip, you vote or you do not, but please ladies, let us not vote the same as our husband because that is what is expected of us as a christian....or that is what keeps peace and quiet in our marriage.

As to prayer, I very much would like to know how God actually leads a husband in voting to candidate A and his wife into candidate B. Can someone please describe this process to me as I have never heard God contradicting Himself....

In fact, I am quite interested to know how christians who so much pray before voting, manage to vote differently all together....!!!

Only a woman who didn't have ANY idea of who she was or had a misplaced idea of what submission is would even CONSIDER voting a certain way just because her husband voted that way. Duh. :dunce::dunce::dunce:

Of course, married woman should vote!!!!!!!! you are a wife, not a slave, or a robot!!

I grew up in a politically divided home, yet my parents loved each other, and I think always voted their hearts.

Mom is gone now, but I love discussing politics with Dad. I always learn something. Yes, we have had some arguements over the years, as I usually vote Democrate, but even in them I learned. "and sometimes changed who I susported!"

The important thing, I think, in a marriage is respect for each other as People! When you do that, it's okay to disargree, because you'll do it agreeably!

How some people stay married when they don't have common convictions about important things like liberty, the sanctity of life, self-defense, and so on, I'll never understand. I see politically divided marriages; I hear of them working; but to me, such would be like drinking battery acid every day of my married life. Close to my heart, I want someone with a common core. Opposites attract like the way a magnet attracts iron filings -- it ain't a pretty result.

Agreed. It would be difficult (impossible actually) to have a Christ-centered marriage when husband and wife are headed off in different directions.

I see what you sayin Silver, I really do for real, but it can be done and not be as bad as drinking battery acid!

You don't have to marry your mental twin in order to have a good, loving marriage. Some marriages thrive on their ability to stimulate each other in great discussions and debate.

I believe so, so much that I don't believe the original question to be valid, except for women in need of deliverance. That I would even consider voting what my husband votes instead of voting my conscious is ridiculous. :dunce:

This is an interesting question. I feel that it's best for the two to respectfully discuss how they are considering voting and hopefully reach a consensus on which candidate is best.

I believe that women should vote seperately. A person 'can't make you vote for someone. By the way, I am a supervising judge at election day sites(which means I run a particular site and all the workers, so I do know what I am talking about on that point lol). A couple can have different political views I believe, and should vote independently. You have a brain, so does He or She.
