Questions:

1. Would you date/marry a girl who has a lot of food allergies or is just a really picky eater? Would that dampen your lifestyle to be w/ someone who is very *exclusive* with her food choices and perhaps doesn't really want to cook some of the things your really enjoy? Example: Would you want to be w/ someone who hates seafood if you LOVE seafood? Dealbreaker?

2. Would you date/marry a girl who had pet allergies or just didn't like pets? How much would that bother you if you really want to have a dog or cat or whatever but your wife couldn't because of allergies? If you had a furry pet already, would you give him away if things became serious with an allergic girl? Or, would you just not be interested in the 1st place?

@skinny. I am a highly picky eater. I have been my entire life. I don't want to be but I can't physically eat anything with certain textures. But I am very very appreciative of what I have. I know I am blessed in life and I would never take anything I have for granted.

I know you didn't mean any harm with what you said but it did kind of offend me.

OK, this was too good to pass up.

I know it wasn't meant to be funny and no offense to anyone.

Me, I'm a cat person. Always have been. Nothing against dogs; I like dogs, goats, chickens horses-- I just prefer cats. If the person I am interested in had pet allergies I would understand and accept it; as long as I knew up front going in. I can live without cats.

The reason I told ya'll this is because the former Mrs. Edw and I dated quite a while. I had a cat named Halfpint for 10 years that lived with me. (or maybe she allowed me to live with her:laugh:) The whole time we were engaged my betrothed would come over to visit and love on my cat, hold her, pet her and such, no problem. She even brought kitty snacks for her. I heard nary a sneeze nor sniffle.

The first week we were married she "politely" informed me that she had cat allergies as a child and Halfpint would have to go. I "politely" informed her that Halfpint lived there in my house before she did and Halfpint was going nowhere. I told her to do what she thought she had to do.

Well, Halfpint lived to a ripe old age of 17, and she and my wife got along swimmingly. Seems my darling bride was merely afraid she would get kitty hair on her Calvins.

I'm sure I'm gonna get some... um, replies, but I had to share this for Pixy.

Why yes I would on both. I actually know a woman who has an allergy to gluten and would probably date her if it was possible. Who she is in Christ is...wow.

I may not be a cat person, but I still think you did the right thing. If you establish a pattern of "your manipulation works on me" early in the marriage, I can't imagine that ending well.

I LOVE animals but I was born with asthma :(

I can only be around them awhile. I have a dog and she cannot sit on the couch I sit on because i sneeze and the whole nine yards. She definitely cannot go in my bedroom.

but other than that, I'm fine with it. Although my mom had a cat and I could only be at her house an hour or two at a time cuz my allergies would go crazy. Sorry Edw...I guess the engagement is off :(

I'm allergic to poppy seeds and that's it as far as food goes.

I've heard some things about men that have cats, I wonder if they are true.:waving:

Edw! Nice to hear from you! Funny story, too.

I know people who are "picky" eaters....... and I know people who others may consider "picky" because of their eating habits. But the reason they eat the way they do is many many years of feeling sick and miserable only to discover certain foods made them sick. There is "picky" and there is "picky".

As for the other ----- is would really depend. I've dated guys who told me they were allergic to cats (I have one). It was made as a statement when we first got to know one another, and was a factor (just one of many) to consider as we got to know each other better. I appreciate being told up front without ultimatums or maniupulations.

Parakeets are terrific - I still miss my little Petey bird I had for seven years.

Hey nurse, I'm glad you realized that I didn't mean offense, I'm with you. There are some foods I won't eat because of texture, or (gasp) taste. If something doesn't agree, it doesn't agree. If you get sick, or even feel sick after eating something, I'd stop too. I was aiming more at the people who choose not to eat things just for the sake of being picky, the general fear of trying new things. And pixy, I know most folks find guy shallow and unattached, but you seem to have hit onto something with this pet thing! People seem to be defending them:glow:

As far as tastebuds and picky eaters, not a problem. I'm a meat and taters person myself, but wouldn't mind trying a few veggie burgers. Besides, I always have wondered how much damage I could do with a salad shooter!

And sorry River, seems the Lord has other plans for me at the moment.

PS- God is good all the time

All the time God is good
