love letter practice {part 1}

This is a fun little game that we can play over-and-over if you want!! :goofball:

I thought of it because of all the talk on here lately about not getting responses to messages...

Here's how it works:

x I type up a fake/pretend/sample profile.

x You menfolk read it and respond to it w/ a "first message."

x Us ladies get to offer you constructive criticism on your "first message."

x You guys learn some really helpful things about how to draft really awesome, quality messages to women that will yield sweet, wonderful replies!!!

The profile is below...

@Arch- Yeah... Montana IS gorgeous. Last time I was there, I wanted to pull over, build a cabin, and never leave... But, your message... YIKES! LOL :goofball: Those are the kinds of messages that I sit around on for several days before dealing w/. Something lighter in a first message is appreciated. I would save those questions for later! As far as Jane living in a ghetto apt. and having her master's... well... She is new to the career world and has massive student loans and is sponsoring a bunch of children! Actually, it might just be a case of pixy not thinking... haha... :goofball:

@Yoshua- Awww... Glad I made you laugh =) You're so sweet.

@Thunder- I like your message actually, except for the part where you repeated yourself :goofball: But I think it's great. You invited her to talk about what she's learning from her Bible study and established a connection w/ her. And you didn't bombard her w/ too much info. or too many questions! It would be okay to add in another question, in fact. But good job =)

To shed some light on Arch's message if i may be so bold. I imagine if I have a career that I am so heavily invested in and the fact that I am a christian that I would actually be enthused to answer those questions. And even if I may not be prepared to answer I would be delighted to have someone to thrash them out with-even if minimally.

On the other hand, wait, what? read a message and sit around for days? That's a tad cruel don't you think?

I can see your point regarding Arch's message, Nyanda. It's worth pointing out various viewpoints here because I, in no way, represent all of the ladies here with my thoughts :goofball: But, since so many of the guys here complain that women never respond to messages, I think it can be beneficial to look at these "first messages" in that light and try to determine why such a message may not get a response, or a prompt response.

It may be so that Jane would be thrilled to receive such a message and would reply immediately. It also may be so that Jane doesn't like talking about her work much outside of work. I know that even when I was a workaholic with my former career and very much personally invested in it, that I really didn't enjoy discussing it much outside of the office.

As far as my personal habits w/ responding to messages, I'm mentioned this before. Before I became unavailable and indicated such on my profile, I was receiving a ton of messages daily and feeling overwhelmed. I simply could not always provide quick, thorough, thoughtful replies to every message I got... unless I wanted to sit here at my computer on CDFF 24/7.

Pixy,

That is not how I usually start a conversation. I like to be a lot lighter and much more humorous. It is just that the profile didn't "ring" true to me (probably because it wasn't) and I would not have answered it.

But my question is sincere and I would really like to know how a Christian in that field dealt with their secular comrades?

Peace
