In Dr. Gary Chapman's book, "The 5 Love Languages," he identifies 5 different ways in which we express love to each other: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

Mine is Physical Touch with Words of Affirmation being a close second. What's yours?

(If you don't already know what yours is, you can do a search for something such as "love languages test" to come up w/ an assessment to take.)

LOL @ Dennis

I have not read the book either actually, but have seen it on display a lot at the book store... and my ex-bf went through a "love languages" phase where he was talking a lot about them and had me take an assessment. I think it's interesting to see how we're all different here... Says a bit about our personalities =)

I've taken a similar test before and came out with Quality Time as my primary love language. I took the linked test, though, and here are the more specific results. (I agree with them, by the way.)

40% Quality Time (12)

30% Physical Touch (9)

20% Acts of Service (6)

7% Words of Affirmation (2)

3% Receiving Gifts (1)

(I do like gifts, by the way. I just don't like gifts that aren't accompanied by some other form of affection. They seem empty to me, like he's trying to buy my love.)

@pianogal- That's how I feel about gifts too! I enjoy them, but the giving must be sincere and not some attempt at buying my love or a substitute for connecting w/ me emotionally.

I didn't read the book, but I took the test!

My results:

40% Quality time

23% Acts of service

20% Physical touch

13% Words of Affirmation

3% Receiving Gifts

( I DO like gifts and touching.... I think the test calculated wrong... ) ~ GraceMae

Well, I was introduced to these ideas about ten years ago. At the time I believed that giving and receiving gifts was on top with physical touch being rock bottom.

Now I prefer words of affirmation and quality time. Physical touch remains bottom.

Thanks for asking the question.
