Help?! =)

What does it mean when a guy sends a wink? Is he looking for a response or just trying to be friendly, or what? Do you think it's okay to ignore a guy who sends you a bunch of winks... like several a week... ?

P.S. The blinking thing is annoying. Haha...

I meant I will NOT have them suffer that type of rejection by my hands. :dunce:

I think winks/flirts on any dating web site are a giant waste of time! Any man who is interested in getting to know a woman should take as much time as is needed to form the right kind of relationship. That starts with reading her profile and internalizing the things in it that touch you and you can relate to.

I think that people try to take the same rules and elements that are applicable in meeting people in person and apply them to virtual dating. We are at the disadvantage of not being in the person's presence (at least initially) and any tools we have, to me are a good thing.

Being here on a dating site has a whole set of rules that allow people to communicate in a safe way. I think flirts and winks are tools that some make use of when approaching someone they are not sure about.

Trying to figure why anyone who thinks that elements on dating sites are a waste of time are here at all.

@godslamb and babygirl- How exactly do you respond? It seems time-consuming to start up several conversations a day w/ guys who haven't even invested the time to tell me what they like about me, or what they feel the connection is. If I responded to every wink w/ a message, then I'd be on here 24/7 typing up and responding to messages... And I already spend too much time on here... And I wouldn't even know what to say. How much is there to say in response to a wink? It's not a real great conversation starter... I'd like to know what specifically you say in your responses =)

@Dennis- Send a note such as this:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the wink. I am flattered. Are you having difficulty sending messages on here or are you too busy to send me a note and converse with me? I'm just trying to find out so that I know better how to proceed.

Thank you again,

pix

(And no... I would not actually send something like that!)

Hey Pixy,

I will be glad to share.

When I receive a wink, I send a message that goes something like this;

Thank you so much for my wink! I checked out your profile and you seem sincere (only if they do sound sincere) in your walk with God. If you would like to email me please feel to do so.

Or...

Thank you so much for my wink! I've checked out your profile and because you are Catholic or you live soooo far away I can't see us realistically meeting or I don't think we are compatible but thank you. I wish you the very best in your search for the woman God has for you. God bless you.

Now Pixy, you may be much more popular than me and be so flooded with winks and emails that you can't respond. But for the amount I get, I'm able to respond whether I'm interested or not.

I recognize that there are some really nice guys that are shy or this venue makes them nervous or they've dealt with rejection and it makes some approach slowly. I would love to get a guy who has already arrived in the confidence department, but I am willing to deal with someone who is in their process.

Thanks, babygirl; that helps a lot =) Maybe I might start responding to them.

I don't really get that many winks overall... It's more that they come in spurts. Like some days I only get a couple, which wouldn't be difficult to respond to, but other days I get like a dozen and then I just feel really overwhelmed and don't even scroll down the page.

I think a wink is basically a positive sign, although it can be abused as the easy way to fish.

I once had the impression (so that means I amnot entirely sure) that a guy had sent out I do not know how many winks, like bait, see what he gets back...

But then again, you only find out when answering to them..
