WANTED: A PROV 31 WOMAN
Posted : 30 Mar, 2010 03:04 PM

Hi Guys

Why do so many of you want a proverbs 31 woman?

I am asking this because I am very happy not to be one.

The woman described in Prov 31, strikes me as a very succesful housewife and excellent mother whose organization talents, diplomacy, intelligence and all other wonderful gifts are only of use for a profitable life, where she contributes to her husbands reputation and also is very active in charity as well.

Excuse me for asking but where does it say that she seeks to do Gods will?

Just asking....:excited::excited::excited::excited:

I have always understood that section of Proverbs to be an ideal that all women can shoot for. It does not mention that she is a Christian - it does not say she is Godly. In that you are correct. But in all other respects (in my opinion) it gives a good example of what kind of woman all women can strive to be.

It is convenient reference for men when summing up the kind of woman they are looking for, rather than list each quality.

The Description of the woman in Proverbs 31 is that of a woman with noble charater. They type of character brought about by having a relationship with Christ, but not just a relationship, a mature relationship. Proverbs 31 can be tied to Titus 2, 1 Corinthians 13, Ephisians 5, and Romans 12. A woman like that can only exsist if she is saturated with Christ, and every man should want a woman alot like Christ, I do. Hope this helps.

First of all, thank you very much for your replies and the time you take to express how you feel about this.

I really appreciate it.

Please allow me to react.

Remp25.

I fully understand what you mean. Indeed, those qualities are special TO A MAN. For a woman they are quite common except that maybe no woman would acutally say from herself to have achieved all this (or be able to). Also there are a lot of non-christian women who cherish their husbands, are excellent mothers, are active in charity and always willing to help, speak wisely, run their household well, deal well with financial matters both in making money and wisely spending it, and teach their children well etc etc etc etc.

I also understand very well that you would be profiling such a woman, just to distinguish her from the opposite type of woman, who also exists; So one would rather mention the prov 31 woman than stating a long list of "qualities" what she should NOT be.

Re godfearing. My experience is, that those who are blessed with both gifts and character to be extremely succesful and highly looked upon by others, have only one fear: God. As they know and truly believe, that He is the only one that beats their intelligence and abilities. They fear God because He can take everything away from them. Their prayers are quite different from ours...

O eh, there is just one thing I would like to stress here. I am only "worried" about this prov31 desire as I see it so much on this dating site. I am not asking it because I strive to be your perfect match or benefit from it in order to make my own profile more attractive.I am just curious. As I really do not understand it.

But I am beginning to... thank you for your input. Please do continue to help me SEE it. As obviously I am totally missing the point here.

I hope I am wrong but I do sense some kind of reluctancy to react to this thread as maybe people would feel that they are challenged or that I mock their "demands" as to find the lady of their life on this site. I would like to stress that this is not the case.

Godslamb

Good point. I too somehow have the idea that it is an ideal. I very much agree with you that it is far more convenient to "quickly" refer to prov 31, you know just to give an idea, that to state all the qualities.

I also think that if man would actually do specify all the qualities one needs to be or become a prov 31 woman, they would probably wonder if such a woman exists and if they would be able to keep her...

But this is not my point really. The idea of this thread is not to point out to man that it is idle or too exigent in asking for a prov 31 woman. The point of my thread is that I believe that a godly woman may not be a woman as described in prov 31.

Rabbit 32.

Excuse me for referring to you like that Sir, but I have no option.

Thank you for making me understand your point which I believe might be the point of so many man when they state to be looking for a prov 31 woman.

What you are telling me (as I understand it) is that one can only achieve that level of excellence when being saturated in Christ. This saturating in Christ, you find described in Rom 12, ICor13 etc etc.

If it is like that, then I fully agree. Thank you once again for your time and insight.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am beginning to see but I am not fully seeing yet. Please tell me more.

I am having serious problems with the feed here... I am constantly cut off.

I see that only part of my message actually made to the thread.

Mr Rabbit 32. (very sorry about that)

I did not fully say what I had on my mind. So here is it. Take II click

You are making quite a point here.

Jesus the Christ actually came to show jewish society that excellence, success, doing good deeds, and being highly looked upon by society indeed is not what it is about in His Fathers eye.

By tying the verses from the New Testament you mentioned in your post, you indeed fill in the basics that I feel was lacking in the Prov31.

As I understand you, you suppose that women who are or try to be as Prov 31 describes, do have deep knowlegde and understanding of the bible verses Rom 12, 1Cor13, Ef5.

You are perfectly right. But I wonder if quoting Prov31 makes a woman thing about Rom12, 1Cor13 and Ef5...

For what it is worth, I definitely did not.

Thanks again for your input.

Well, I guess there remains just one question: why is this Prov 31 woman so difficult to find, even within the christian community?

Hi Sos,

First; I'm glad too know you are reading Gods word. For you to have questions

with in His word tells me you are striving too understand to know the character

of God, thus, building a relationship with God (that's a wonderful thing.)

That being said, as I'm sure you know the Bible is the LIVING word of God. We

all can read the same passage and each one of us will have a different interpretation

of its meaning, hence, the Living word of God.

In your one on one time with our precious Lord have you brought this question

you have before Him? Seems to me that although its great to ask fellow Christians

or even your pastor, if your still not understanding why not go too the main source?

God is the author, His word will not return void.

My own personal thought, like so many have given already, is ... Proverbs 31 was written by

"Sayings" of King Lemuel, an oracle his mother taught him. If you look at verses 29 &

30 it says, "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is

deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be

praised." Too fear the Lord is to hold Him in reverence, esteem. Thus, be in

devoted relationship with Him. Meaning she is seeking God's heart and will,

a godly woman.

Again, that is my understanding of Proverbs 31.

I strongly urge you too seek and ask God to reveal to you His meaning of the

scripture and be patient He will answer you.

Keep seeking and striving to know Jesus more and more each day. He loves

you with an everlasting and unconditional love.

Why it is so difficult? That is a very good question indeed. If you consinder the whole council of God, Proverbs 31 is the likness of Christ. It can only be done through is power, and a deep mature relationship with Him. It is written we are all created to be upright, but have all turned to follow our downward paths. Being upright is synonomous with righteous. It is written our righteousness is like a bucket of filthy rags, therefore we must be transformed into the likeness of Christ.

That said it is a difficult path to follow. Today the love of many have gone cold. A Proverbs 31 woman is hard to find, as is a man who is like Christ because, I believe many arent really seeking God.

Thank you for your input. For the record. I was not confused reading the Word of God, but I was confused when I read the proflles on this site.

Thanks for your advice in urging me to go to my Source. If we all would do that, there would not be much left of the Forum, would there...

As you state correctly, there is room for different interpretaton. I am afraid we do not share the same point of view but I am very glad that this issue is so clear for you. I wish it was for me.

Sir Mr. Rabbit 32 Sir,

I think you have spoken with wisdom (again).
