Is it normal for men stop talking after good communication?

Hi,
I haven't posted on these forums... but I really would like to know if it's a big deal, or not, if a man who appears to like a girl in all general respects, stops messaging her after 2 weeks or so?
I met a nice guy back in late December. We exchanged some messages on here, then he stated he was deactivating his account so we swapped messenger addresses and have been talking on MSN for ~2 weeks.
This past Tuesday, he stopped logging on. We talked consistently every evening for 2-4 hours up till this point--sometimes accidentally staying up later than we realized--, so I started wondering if he was sick or something else.
Then I saw he had removed me as a friend on facebook.
He also did not respond to the 1 offline IM I sent him Thursday asking if he was sick.
I saw an hour ago, after reactivating my account on here, that he too had reactivated his account and had been online today.
He didn't drop a single hint that I had offended him in any way, or that his interest with me had died away.
In fact, up till the last time we talked, he still stated that he really enjoyed talking to me, was amazed at how much we had in common, liked me, and said, "I can see a potential relationship in a year or so".
So, I'm feeling hurt and confused. I felt an attraction to him and now it feels like he has toyed with me somehow.
Do men sometimes do this? If so, why? I'd really like to know so I can avoid this in the future.

Its all part of the process I guess. I have had the same thing with gals as well. Going as far as texting and Blackberry Messenger all weekend and then dont hear from them. It is a strange world with some very strange people :-)

Hey Icey:(
Sorry to hear that this boy treated you so badly, but in one way try to see the blessing in it, God showed this lad's character to you before you got to involved, much better to find out sooner than later, I know that knowledge doesnt alway's ease the pain while it's fresh, but maybe it can be a silver lining for ya till time make's Gods hand in thing's more comforting:)
