How are you viewing sisters in Christ?
Posted : 15 Jan, 2010 07:08 AM

After many emails asking me what I was looking for and really searching it out with Christ, I wrote this paper. I decided to post it on here bcause it really has helped refocus my life back towards Him. I would ask that you please read it with an open mind. I would love feedback. I pray that you all have a wonderful day, filled with Christ.

In Christ,

Mary

To love someone, as a child I know says is to want God for them. To love Christ in them. To love one another as a brother or sister in Christ first as another friend says, not getting caught up in the distraction of attraction. So putting the two ideas together...what if we viewed a brother or sister one step further as a child of God first. When we look at a physical child we are quick to love them. We look past annoying habits or immaturities they may have because we see and love the innosense of their kept design. We are less fearful of a child hurting us. We see a child and want Christ for them. Our intentions are not skewed by the possibilties of what could happen instead of truly desiring a 1st Corinthians kind of love. I wouldn't have selfish desires when looking at Scarlet (my neice). I want to see her grow in Christ. To be centered and focused on Him. I want her to avoid the same pitfalls I have. I want to see her design kept in tact for the Lord. It is easier for adults to look at children with a 1st Corinthians love than it is for adults to look at other adults in that mannor. Why? Because we are not truly seeking Christ in them. We are trying to fix them, or love them in a way we are not even aware of. Our hearts must be on Christ. Our lives must be surrendered to Him in order to even understand how to love this way. Intentions can be good, but truly look at the root of an intention. Is it self-seeking or is it focused on what Christ in us needs it to be focused on? Once we are able to view even a physical adult as one of God's precious little children, then for those us still learning this concept can we start to view someone as a brother or sister in Christ as well. If you feel as though distractions may come about again, look back to the child you originally viewed within that person. Normal Christ seeking people will not be able to corrupt that with their own desires, with a selfish, self-seeking love. In a sense it almost trains us to view all of God's children as just that...a child. Not to be preyed upon or taken advantage of, not to be manipulated or have their heads filled with confusion. You can not look at a little child or even a newborn and have malicious or perverse thoughts if you have Christ in you. You love that child, you know that child, so what changes as we become adults? Our designs do, we get touched by the world. We need to retrain our brains to view each other as Christ did, as His children. Then can we begin to see Christ in them or know how to reach to them. When our thoughts are pure and intentions correct then God can use us more effectively. He can allow the Holy Spirit to enter into a clean body/mind. How can the Holy Spirit guide us, dwell within us if we ourselves are not living in truth? Christ cannot live in a filthy temple (our body). If our eyes and hearts are not truly set upon Christ, how can we lead? It would be the blind leading the blind off a cliff to certain death. A wise man continually seeks wisdom, truth...Christ. We need to be wise. We have a responsibility before Christ to love one another as He did.

dear randy. You've obviously done some research. I for one don't ever, even once believe a woman when she tells me her age. (Unless she's a young child) but I don't accuse them of lying at all. I think it's intelligent that she doesn't put out where she lives. As to your response, you seem to attack her directly without hearing what she has to say. I have no proof that I'm "really me" to offer you, but for what it's worth. I used to work in a liquor store. That made me stop drinking heavily, as my clientele were mostly alcoholics. Bars often affect people the same way. This makes her the ninth bartender that doesn't drink that I've met in my 29 years on earth. And as far as being 31 and never married-129 of my "friends" on facebook who claim no religion at all are in the same boat. I don't understand why the personal attack on someone? I have as much right to doubt your own "stats" on the site just because I want to. Please, I'm asking to be corrected if I'm wrong, but you commented on things she has in her profile. Not a word of what she (or the Nigerian scammer) had to say. Please-do correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not the only one with this response. Site Mr. Arcamedes he defends her as well. Or maybe she pulled the wool over both our eyes...

None of us are perfect.I do liked what are sister wrote and was pleased by it.By the way, this is for all you judges out there.

In fox holes you will find no athiest. They all pray save me Jesus.

Why is this?

Maybe because they do not want to die.

I recently bought a russian war movie made during communist days.In the fox holes those commies are praying to Jesus to not let them die. So, who am I to judge the lady for working in a bar.

They need to get saved too.Right?Or is Jesus not for drunks?

When I read a ladies profile I do not come on the forum and attack her for what she wrote on her post.Lets be professional here.Treat the lady like your sister ok.

Also, just because I oppose drinking does not mean all churches do.Some say it is ok to drink.I was once Lutherern and they are famous for those beer parties.:Mug: October fest.

Even thou I have never deen a drinker of beer does not give me the right to tear another christian who does.Dennis

Thank you again everyone. I do want to clarify that I do not work at a bar anymore. I quit upon God's urging. The bar I did work at was at a bowling alley and uniforms were required. Black polo shirt and khakis pants. So no skin was ever shown except my neck and lower portion of my arms. I do not drink, nor do I go to clubs or bars. I was constantly getting in trouble at work because of my beliefs and sharing them with customers. I was threatened to be fired if I didn't stop talking about God. But I answer to God and not them, so I continued to talk about God...especially if people asked me. The job itself enabled me to go to South Africa, Hounduras, Dubai, Mexico, etc for mission trips. So until I felt released from it, I did not feel the need to quit. Working there also taught me how to love my enemies. I have been seriously mistreated there for my beliefs, mocked, ridiculed and seperate rules made that only applied to me. In that, I learned how to trust God, my merciful Father. To rely on Him for everything. To love those who hate me. So I take every situation and find God in it. I am thankful for my time there as I have learned so much. I am a little saddened that the focus has been on my former job and not what I feel like God wanted me to share about how to view each other. I am grateful for all you that are able to look past the fact that I used to bartend and recieve what the Holy Spirit reveiled to me. As far as my bible says, Christ defended ALL His children...Paul a murderer, Mary M. a prostitute, etc. So I am certain that He will love and accept me too! :yay:

Well, girl, he does. And if no-one ever told you that, please, let me take this moment in time to reassure you that no matter what anyone says about you, or the work you do, or did, or your past, or (gasp) the mistakes you might yet even make in your future-

GOD LOVES YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks cattle, How are Ya? I've been following this post, quite interesting. I've watched this poor girl get more abuse about her as person than for anything she has to say, and much more than she deserved. Since he who has been forgiven much loves much, I figured she could use a little sent her way. And speaking of forgiven much-if all they've got to say is about her being a bartender for a job once? Well since God knows em all already, I may just air out MY laundry list of sins. Now That'd give give em someone to aim at!
