Hi Browneyeedgirl,

Thanks for your your post. All I have to say is WOW!! You are one special person. I really do admire the fact that you can find some sort of Godly peace in bad situations. That's shows a lot unwaivering faith in God that I still struggle with.

I do understand your point of view. My mother was twice pregnant with fetuses that had malformities with serious medical implications. She miscarried both. I asked her if she would have considered aborting the fetuses. She simply stated that God took care of it so she didn't have to worry about it ( but she never really gave a definitive answer).

I pray that no one here is ever in one of those tough situations.

Lorrie

Lorrie, I'm so sorry that your mother had to endure those miscarriges, but I'm glad she found solice in that it was God's will...sometimes I think that's the only way to keep our enemy from totally consuming us. It's a wonderful testimony.

It has taken me alot of hurts for me to realise that good can come from everything bad. Now it's much easier to deal with.

F5, hehe, I've overanalysed things for way too long!!

What does it mean anyway? Just curious...

With love to you both,

T

Fpive,

Okay, let me put on my flak jacket first:

All right, here we go, Abortion.

Abortion is, frankly, a termination of a life. Even in cases of rape and incest. This is not an easy thing to accept, but let me explain, if I can why it's not okay:

Yes, Rape is a horrible crime. So is incest. Personally, I would rather see stiffer penalties for rapists (and most other crimes, frankly, but that's another topic.). But that does not automatically remove the fact that this new person is just that... a person, created in the image of God. (And further, it's not the fault of the baby the way it was conceived.) God does not promise us that we will not go through hard times (as a matter of fact, he warns us that we have to pick up our cross.) but what he does promise is that he will be with us to the end of the age. Immanuel, God with us, did not stop at 33 A.D., it continues through to this very day. I would also say, that the child can still be offered up for adoption if the pain is too great (and that's entirely understandable). But my thoughts on this is that God sometimes hands us something that we don't think we can handle. This is where faith comes into play. This is where God shows up. We can either get out of the boat and walk on water... or we can choose to stay where it's comfortable.

That is not to say that it is God's will that rape and incest happens. We still live in a fallen world. If God chose to intervene in those circumstances, it would be the subversion of the free will that God gave us. (And that is not to say that he will not show up. He regularly does, sometimes even when we are not aware of it. This is a case that the exception proves a greater rule... that God is sovereign and as the creator, he does with his creation whatever he so chooses.) This world is still fallen and it still suffers from the curse, but that does not remove the fact that this is still a human life we're talking about. The consequences of sin can be tragic, but that does not give us the right to compound the problem with further sin.

Yes, perhaps not an easy truth. And perhaps I'm being entirely too academic and not gracious enough in the way I'm presenting it. But I don't know how to present this any further. I can only pray that the reply will be taken in the spirit that it has been given... that of someone who believes sin is wrong, that God is love and that truth needs to be spoken in charity.
