It would be interesting to have men from various age groups reply.

Do you believe the church has been working to feminize men?

I've skimmed through this thread, and did not want to get caught up in the feminism debate (I am still formulating my opinions on this, but it seems to me that feminism went from rightfully seeking equal suffrage to something far more militant, promoting the idea that women can BE men and that men ought to be women -- which brings us to the topic at hand.)

I kind of gravitate to something John Eldredge wrote in one of his books. He said that the man is the leader and executer of justice in God's order. This is a generalization, for all those women who'd get offended by this. Obviously one can point to someone like Margaret Thatcher as proof that women can be leaders and executers of the law. But, she is the exception, not the norm. Women are (generally) designed to promote mercy. This is a balance with justice, and both are part of God's character and needed within human society.

Unfortunately, a strong, warrior man is the last thing satan wants in the church, so that ideal is under attack. Men need to step up. They need find a way to overcome father wounds and undo some of that excessive bonding with their mothers (one reason that good homosexual parents and good single parents are simply NOT as good as a good male/female parental pair). Obviously all of us can point to something in our past that messed us up and made us something we were not intended to be. But, that's part of this sinful order, and if we are to be what and who we were meant to be, we must find a way to heal, get fixed up by God, and occupy His assigned places in His kingdom so that satan can be pushed back.

This is war, folks, and it's something we who are in the Body of Christ better start taking seriously. Our sleepless enemy sure is.

keithiepoo thank you so much for posting. I am curious to know how you believe men should "step up". How does one go about doing that?

Bro, I don't really know exactly. I am not very knowledgable about church workings and protocols, or how revivals get started. The most I've ever done is be an usher / offering collector.

The only idea that comes to mind is, people who are aware of the problem and who have spiritual maturity and leadership qualities should stimulate the change. The men who are falling short are likely not thinking to themselves, "I'm a weak, feminized male.. I'm not being what God wants me to be." Someone who gets it would need to make the call, challenging the men in his congregation or... city... or... wherever to acknowledge their weakness, ineffectiveness, indifference, what have you, and hopefully the person who starts this has a strategy or a plan to lead the weaker men into greater Christian manhood.

This would not be me. I only have a certain level of understanding about the issue and I am not someone blessed with leadership qualities. Otherwise, I think entreating the Holy Spirit to begin moving in men's hearts would be a way to start.

Pray "Holy Spirit to begin moving in men's hearts would be a way to start."
