Would you... or would you not, consider the idea of 'an arranged marriage'?Posted : 30 Sep, 2017 07:45 PMIf you had the fullest of confidence in the person/persons that you had deligated to find you a perfect (or as near-perfect), a wife for you... through discussions with the prospective brides' designated ones (such as close family members)? Understanding that there would not be any obligation to wed the selected bride - but in knowing that those who 'in having known you the longest and therefore - know you best' might have a more 'unbiased' idea of what you would find most 'perfectly suited in a marriage partner'? |

Would you... or would you not, consider the idea of 'an arranged marriage'?Posted : 5 Oct, 2017 05:33 PMI personally trust my parents fully to make this choice for me. Now, I do want to choose my wife for myself. But if I had to, I would have no problem with my parents doing it for me. |

Would you... or would you not, consider the idea of 'an arranged marriage'?Posted : 6 Oct, 2017 12:14 PMThank you for your thoughts... I think that those who 'know us best' (ie. someone that has insight into the person we truly are), may, perhaps, be more capable of 'unbiased evaluation' of the person and the situation, moreso than we, who, in the moment of that first blush of excitement, at the thought of having 'found a kindred soul' are more willing to 'overlook' things we WANT NOT TO SEE... Such is the natural inclination of one who is already in a place of 'hopeful anticipation'... I happen to think wisdom is potentially better exercised by those outside of the 'circle of two' -who may be in a place of blind, or near blind 'infatuation'... but the 'unbiased' (or at least hopefully less biased people (parents?) must definitely be of similar 'character' as their son/daughter in order for everyone to benefit from the effort... and I most definitely understand and agree with your last thought... |
