Just Proverbs 31???

Hey, I observed that most men quote Provs 31 in their quest for their woman...Its true the Proverbs 31 woman is amazing! But how about other traits of women that you can think of from the Bible in your quest for a godly woman? It just strucked my mind and I got curious. So, I ask again "Just Proverbs 31???" e.g. What about if God wanted you to go marry a Gomer et.al ? Think about these things and pray and maybe we could use this forum to bring out other wonderful women from the Bible whose trait might be just the one you have been waiting! Who knows? Blessings and Best wishes, Deep:)

Sandman,

May I, if you will, offer my insight here, as a woman. Please forgive me if I have overstepped a boundary.

I am sorry you have been taught this way.

One must learn the Scriptures from the beginning to know the end not the other way around. We need to learn from the way G-d spoke to the people within that culture. This was not an evil mother, but a concerned loving one. She named her son Lemuel which meant "belonging to G-d". The "liquor" was for medicinal purposes and pain.

Proverbs is an offering of cautions and encouragement by which we can live. The wife in chapter 31 describes what a wife is capable of doing and offers her and her husband freedom not restriction. Most thought women were restricted to home. But where was this Proverbs 31 husband? He was at the gate, with the elders. She was in and out of that gate doing business, helping and feeding others, buying and selling land and its development, and he was standing in a place of security for her. He was discussing things of G-d, doing business and standing in a place of protection (as Boaz did) so that she could go about all she needed and desired.

Some G-dly women choose some of these options, some choose all. while their husband "stand" at the gate for her needs, and protection.

This is beautiful story of freedom and security and expression under headship for women. We can choose for she does him good and not evil.

Hi Verydeepme,

Thank you for your comment and loving words.

Many years ago when I wanted to know how G-d saw a G-dly woman and what were her characteristics I explored many women of the Bible. One by one I began to see how special each one was and how they expressed their purpose. I had been told that women were oppressed in the Scriptures but I found that was untrue. As I learned the culture of the scriptures and I found women who were historically placed and recorded for us to understand our role as women.

Proverbs 31 is the easiest place for most men to go to identify a G-dly woman and her characteristics. But we, as women, can glean from many stories in the Scriptures. Ruth is a great example, although most do not understand this precious example of redemption of a family by this outsider. Esther is another example. She served a meal and saved a nation. Abigail's endurance and sacrifice saved a king and a man after G-d's own heart. Deborah, a woman appointed to judge a nation and oversee a battle of evil. All these placed by G-d for their purpose. Oh, I must not forget Rahab. She protected the spies in Jericho, asked to be remembered to G-d because she could see G-d was with them and was included in the lineage of Messiah, wow.

May I encourage you to glean from all the fields of the women of the Scriptures and capture them for yourself. You will be seen as a Proverbs 31 woman.

May the G-d of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob bless and inspire you always,

Janet

I didnt read anything into the Proverbs 31 woman.

I know we are Perfect in that we are Godly women through

knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior. However, men who have many flaws go after Godly women. Didnt you not know this!!

If they want a Godly woman they should be a Godly man.

I've had men online and inperson who have approached me.

Speaking from Experience I am.

And, my character attracted them.
