I posed the question to Father John Jacobs recently about Adam and Eve's sin. He said what you said. Eve sinned first but Adam's sin was greater.

yes she can be because then the for me, it makes me feel like I'm not needed. my x fiancee was really really independant and that was a part of why we broke up.

It's ok to be independant, but try to ease up on the inedependance and then it's all good.

i disagree with some of the previous posts to a point, i believe that no matter how much you might "cleave" to another, you still need space and time away, its all matter of moderation though. This being the key, no matter the situation i sometimes need the chance to disappear from contact for a day or so, and i never feel a need to be in constant contact. however i also know that there is a level to which being too distant pushes others away, so again i summarize in moderation it is essential to a healthy relationship

I believe the answer to this one can be taken directly from scripture.

1 Cor.

11:11

Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord.

Blessings,

Leon

But Leon, is'n't this passage in I Corinthians chapter 11: verse 11, rather speaking of God divine ranks of order in relationships when it come to submission of a woman to her OWN husband? I think Paul is speaking about man and the woman having mutal respect for each other, and not the man having dominion over the woman as some men think they should, but both the woman and man should submit to each other as they do to God.

I don't see that this verse is relating to a woman being independant as in caring for her sefl and being self-reliant, self-sufficient, as being abled body to not need a man in her life to do things around the house o r for her financially, or an independant woman who isn't sitting back waiting on a man to tell her when to go eat... The Proverbs 31 woman is our example of an independant woman of great strengths. She was very independant yet submissive. Most men say the like independat women, but they really don't.:buddies:

The way I see it, We are to be as I've stated, independant, dependant, and interdependant on each other. All three qualities make for the personhood of a person...

Independence as in a man when married being able to find his own sock and make his jelly sandwich and get a glass of milk sometimes in the day, without always needing his wife around to do every thing for him:applause:...ooooppps! did I say that???:yay:

1 Corinthians 11:11 But in relationships among the Lord's people, women are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women. 12 For although the first woman came from man, all men have been born from women ever since, and everthing comes from God. NLT

After reading this, it seemed to come to me that these scriptures could be referring to relationships in general. Not necessarily marriage relationships or dating relationships. We, as the Lord's people, should not segregate ourselves. We should depend on and respect each other because even though Eve came from Adam, we have all come from God equally.

This is not my opinion on marriages, but as a single woman, this has really helped answer some of my questions.

Thank you to all who contribute to the forums! I really enjoy reading them! :glow:
