There are some who are obvious right up front that they are players. But to the others... listen to how he answers, be attentive to what his 'people' say, what your 'people' say... and don't get hooked until they've shown themselves to be genuine! Too often, the actual problem is that we take what they present online at face value, as if what a person thinks about themselves is an accurate representation of who they are. And we fall for that, then get disappointed when we find out that we would have described them differently. For instance, the person who says they are 'very patient' often means they get irritated easily, but bite their tongue until it is too much for them. That is not the same as someone saying "I try to be patient, and hope others can be patient with me"... that is more honest. Beware the person who says they have 'no baggage'. This is code for, "I have shoved everything under the rug and have not dealt with it". This will bite them (and you) in the heel later on ... guaranteed! Rough things happen to all of us; if we face it and deal with it, it will not be dealing with us later in a new relationship! Be kind, but guard your heart. People who admit they have baggage but haven't dealt with it are just as dangerous to relationships as people who pretend it doesn't exist. Post Reply
