What is the difference between a smart man and a wise man?

A smart man can get himself out of situations that a wise man would never be in...:peace:

Lovingcoman, its sort of the same thing. 2+2=4 has an intrinsic value, so it is hard to see that you are assigning the value of 2+2 being 4. Or to turn it around, you are saying the 4 is equal to 2+2, not 1+3. On the computer, you are assigning the value of something by saying that it is equal to it. For example, FirstName=Michael. You are assigning your name to FirstName by saying that FirstName is equal to Michael. So, you assign the value by saying that it is the same as.

Lovingcoman (Michael)

If you are trying to show your Sagacity by explaining Why 2 + 2 = 4 Without much more thought I would have to agree with you.

I have never given it much thought as to Why 2 + 2 = 4. Yes, the = sign means that what is on the left side is the same as what is on the right side, but I feel that the Why this is true would be more in the way of a Proof as to why this Equation is true.

If you could Prove that this is truethen you will have shown Why (I think).

For instancesubtracting 2 from one side and doing the same from the other side yields the equation of 2 = 2. Is this a Proof?

I think that is why the Why is harder to achieve and therefore a sign of Sagacity (being WISE).

Does any of that make any sense?

2+2=4 because those are the symbols we have chosen to represent that quantity of objects.

If I have accrued a modicum of success in this world it can be attributed to the wisdom I have acquired. Any wisdom I have acquired has been learned through my failures....A smart man convinces people of what "his" interpretations of the scriptures are. A wise man humbly lets The Holy Spirit imprint the meaning of the scriptures on his soul.
