Some guys don't get it...

...or isi it just me?

Two of the guys I've been with (not from here) have been guys who expect their partners to take care of them. It's been either that, or they expect their partner to do things that she is not able to do or is forbidden by Scripture from doing.

And then, when the lady objects, he either lays a guilt trip on her or goes into a raging tirade.

Did I do something wrong?

I think it depends. Obviously if what he's asking you to do is against Scripture then of course don't do it. There are somethings guys like for girls to do...but that doesn't mean that you HAVE to do it.

I guess part of it is, one way men view love is through actions. Like having a dinner prepared when we get home. HOWEVER that doesn't mean you have to make a dinner. You can choose to do so if you wish. It's a choice.

I'm sorry I wasn't too helpful...there aren't that many details available but I think it's an important reminder that we need to learn to better love people, and how to express our love. At the same time though, love is selfless. It doesn't want what it doesn't have. I think when something like this comes up the best thing is to talk about it to find a solution...and if no solution can be found I recommend talking to an older couple.

Yup.......

I agree with (riveroflife1) "they seem like they are manipulative and immature.....stick with your convictions."

Good advice. Also, more details would help...are they Christians, etc.? I like Psalm 127 "Unless the LORD builds the house [career, relationship, etc.) they labor in vain who try to build it."

Here's a neat quote I heard from an [approximately] 18 year-old today on Klove re: 'why wam'...ywam...[youth with a mission] advisement:

"Just obey God totally and He'll work things out."

Very simple & very effective.

God bless, will pray for God to send you your heart's desires

:waving: The first guy returned to the church the same time I did. The other guy SAID he was a believer (and it took me five months to find out he was lying to me).

It wasn't a matter of making him dinner. Both were expecting me to support them, to drop what I was doing (including minstry involvement) for them....in other words, the relationship was ALL about them.

I second what riveroflife and totalstd said. A relationship should be ALL about both people involved(not just one). Lots of guys do "get it".
