husbands and home churchesPosted : 13 Dec, 2010 11:19 PMI've decided that it would be really cool for the future hubby and I to start a home church, partly because it's so hard to find a really good church these days and partly because I really like the idea of a small, close-knit body of believers and not having the overhead costs of having a church building. |

husbands and home churchesPosted : 14 Dec, 2010 07:17 AMYour best bet is to find a guy in seminary with a heart for church planting. A lot of churches get started as house churches, but if you develop a strong community that displays Christ attractively, you're going to grow. At some point, you're going to need a place to meet, like perhaps a school cafeteria or some local community center. The responsibilities of leading any church are heavy, so I also suggest starting it under a denomination. |

husbands and home churchesPosted : 14 Dec, 2010 10:35 AMThe only thing scary about starting a church of any kind is if you starting one outside of God's direction. People who start churches should be called to Pastor. There is a special anointing that is given to those who have that calling. If a church in a home is started, it should be by the leading of the Holy Spirit or under the oversight of your Pastor. Whether man or woman. |

husbands and home churchesPosted : 14 Dec, 2010 10:52 AMLike Babygirl said, when a church grows too large to continue meeting in a house, you just start smaller community groups that continue to meet in people's houses. |

husbands and home churchesPosted : 14 Dec, 2010 11:04 AMI don't really understand what you mean by wanting a home church that stays a home church.... Like the others have said, a good church is likely to grow to some extent. I mean, if you turn people away I guess you can keep it just in your home. I guess I just don't fully understand what you are thinking.... |

husbands and home churchesPosted : 14 Dec, 2010 11:21 AMTo "start a church" ....Let me say I have the utmost respect for many (not all) churches. However, since the church is defined as a "assembly of believers" and each person is a different part of the Body of Christ,....Church should be based on relationships ....NOT relationships based on a church. |
