What are your thoughts on why men (and women) look at pornography?

Curiosity. Loneliness. Perversion. I've had a personal battle with this, just like every other guy I know. It's getting really scary now, even little kids are getting sucked into it.:prayingm:

Men look at porn because they don't have to do any work. They don't have to worry about her emotions. They don't have to worry about her physical pleasure. He can put 100% of his focus on his own needs.

Women typically don't look at that kind of porn. The porn women are involved in are soap operas and those romance novels.

Thanks for the feedback, Mark.

Here's another question for everyone: When you're looking at porn on the internet does child pornography pop up? I mean, I know it's on the internet... but like if you're doing your search for adult porn, does child porn come up too? Or, are they mixed together on the same sites? Or, is child porn just not that prevalent and not something that really pops up?

Pixy,

Do you realize that not many men are going to want to admit that they look for porn? Their chances of getting a date next weekend would definately be reduced.

Some may admit that they look at porn, but adult porn is legal and child porn is illegal. Admitting to viewing child porn on a public forum could get them arrested.

Didn't know if you realized the consequences of answering your question.

I'm not asking if they've looked at child pornography, I'm asking if it pops up. But I do understand how that could be uncomfortable to answer, so let me rephrase the question:

Let's say that you're a woman and you get this email from a guy friend/acquaintance (who you haven't spoken to in over a year) saying that he saw some pornographic pictures (child porn) online that looked like you, and he wants to know if it is you and what it's all about... So you respond with asking him how exactly he came across these pictures and he says that he was looking at adult porn and it just popped up while he was surfing through it. And so then you start to wonder if it really just pops up all the time like that or if the guy is just making an excuse... So, I suppose the second part of what I'm asking for is an OPINION as to whether or not what this guy said is plausible. Nobody has to admit to having seen child porn to answer it from that perspective =)

OK. Thanks for clarifying the question. I don't view porn, so I can't be sure, but my ex viewed it. I found out because some, I think their called computer cookies, randomly saved photos. He was "into" minors, so I would have expected to find juvenile photos in the group if they were available.

Again, child porn is illegal. I think you have to go looking for it. Pop ups would get a lot of distributors arrested.

I do hope you find someone who can give you better insight. You might even inform the "friend" that pop up or not, his viewing the porn is illegal. Especially if he downloaded it.

What the guy said is a lie. You really have to look for the stuff and you won't find it on your average porn browsing.

As for reasons why guys and girls look at porn, it does vary by the sexes to some degree, but the basic motive is the same: loneliness. Depending on the person, the route that you take to alleviate that loneliness might be pictures, stories, audio, film, or animation. Some people want a well-written story; others can be satisfied with hack letters written to Penthouse. Some want naked people psuedo-artistically arranged with faux-literary verbiage beneath; others settle for the conventions of modern romance (which often descends into soft-core porn). But in all cases, the person pours themselves into the experience as a way of obtaining what they do not have. Even the most basic porn experience represents a wish for something you do not have and a partial obtaining of that through self-pleasure.

No, I never ran across any child porn. Child pornography is VERY illegal. If someone saw it, they must have really been searching for it.

I can confirm what SilverFire said. You have to look specifically for that kind of thing to find it.
