Good question!!!! This often comes on sooner than I'm ready for...and even if I think I'm ready - until I've met them in person, it's creepy.

I thought this Thread was about naming your pets!

My pets have been:

Magic (Siberian Shepherd) ...Sundown and Sunset (Brother, Sister - German Shepherds)...Saxon (Dobie)...Achillies (Huskie-Shepherd mix)...Patches (Beagle)...Boo Boo ( Bull Dog).

Easy (Siberian Mountain Cat)...Zorro (British Sterling Cat)...Bobbie (Orange Tabby Cat)...Leonidas (Long Haired Something! Cat)

Those are my Pet Names.

As for the Other thing.

Names and terms of Endearment should come naturally and as a due process of knowing someone. If it is "forced" it will feel unnatural. If it is an "affectation" it will come across as demeaning...or worst.

Unless you are a Movie Character "Yea Baby!" or a waitress in Tenn. "Whatya have Sweetie?" or a nice old lady "Yes Dear"...those words just don't carry the same weight anymore.

Me...I like "Wench!".

Call me Old Fashioned.

Steve

I don't usually come up with a pet name until after the first kiss. Then I'm pretty sure it's appropriate. I do call some of my female friends Hon or Sweety depending on the relationship but in a dating relationship it's different.

I'm trying to think of a pet name for Steve.

Oh yeah, I had a duck named Steve once. Turned out I had to change her name to Stevie!

Thunder,

Don't even ThinK about Kissing me!!

Also...in the South it is almost expected to use the words "Honey" or "Darlin'". Most don't mean anything by it, they're just so used to hearing it and saying it. Now "wench" is a different story all together. It is "fresh" -- sassy and ...Yes...even "spicy". I don't understand why I get such a poor response?

I don't think I've ever used a pet name...besides for pets. I'm in a relationship now...but I guess I like her name enough to call her that all the time, lol...I don't like "baby"...I don't like "honey"...I mean....I do like babies and honey...just not...whatever...anyway, the only one I could ever see myself using would be "sweety".
