I was just wanting to get some advice on weight loss. I've been doing some research online but all I find is a bunch of ads promoting their weight loss pills. I know you are supposed to work out eat right and all that good stuff but what does that mean. Recently I've changed my eating habits drastically. I dont have a great deal of weight I'm wanting to loose but I'm 6'6 260 and trying to get to about 200 lbs.

My main problem is getting to the gym more often and knowing what to buy at the grocery store. Any help would do.

Thanks.

I'm a work out junkie.

First of all, yes I know you've probably heard this a lot of times but it is a true fact: 70% of your weight loss efforts rest on diet alone, in other words, try eating as healthy as possible cutting on the sugar, white bread and the likes. I'd suggest chicken, fish and turkey, lots of nuts, vegetables, FRUITS, and water; water is your best friend, my friend :)

Then the rest of the effort rests on exercising! You need to do a lot of aerobic exercises, in other words, air-requiring! Forget the weights and all of those; our goal here is to lose weight, not gain muscle (unless you want to of course), so your second best friend here is the treadmill, or just simply walking/jogging around the block (I prefer that over running @ the gym).

Of course, don't forget to do your stretching and warming up before starting any physical activity to avoid any painful muscle cramps or injuries, which can hinder your progress >.<

Have fun and remember that working out is a lifestyle :)

multi-grain, all natural, no hormones, as organic as possible. When you get juice, make sure it's 100% juice. protein bars, low complex carbohydrates. I know how much of a struggle that all is, and please understand, I am 110% carnivore myself, but best of luck to you! Check out whole foods, trader joes, etc..

It's really simple.....

I just spent the last year recovering from a major back injury that resulted in a double fusion to my lower spine. I had spent four years on the road with my job. Most everything I ate, due to living in hotels for 46 weeks a year, was restaurant food. I gained a lot of weight as a result. I think the Lord literally took me, slammed me up against a wall and said...."SLOW DOWN".

Long story short.... as a result of the slam..... I lost forty pounds in about six months....

Part of my physical therapy included walking..... So that's what I'm first gonna tell you. If you can't get to the gym... just get out and walk. I would walk about three miles three times a day, every day. Just get out there and walk.... every day.

WATER!! and ONLY water when you're thirsty. Maybe iced tea with some Sweet and Lo or something. When I was out on the road, it was all soda and Starbucks Cafe Mochas... Don't even drink milk if you can avoid it. Milk has more sugar in it than you know. You would be surprised how doing this ONE THING, along with walking will start to shed the pounds.

You can still eat WELL and not feel hungry while losing weight. As one mentioned....whole grains, lo fat meats (chicken) and lot of veggies. You don't have to starve at all.... just cut out all the JUNK.

Also.... Don't eat after, say, six pm. Don't eat before you go to bed....

Hope that helps...

Now just go get out and walk....

peace

Brandon:

Different things work best for different people. Adding more fruits and veggies (at least three servings a day of each), green tea and water (no soda!) and smaller portion sizes work best for me.

Going to a gym is great if you have one nearby and can afford it. I walk a lot for exercise. It is free, you can do it anywhere, anytime, and all you need are a decent pair of shoes. Don't forget to vary your routine after you get comfortable walking a couple of miles - hit the hills, hit the trails, walk on sand if you can. Doing aerobic (spelling?) exercise is key also if you want to lose weight.

Good luck!!

Brandon since I have been layed off from work I did pick up 25 pounds. Now I have to take it off.My plan is simple. I like russian food, Siberian dumplings have no sugar in them. Just noodle with something inside it.These dumplings come with meat, potaotoes,

cherries, blueberries, or mushrooms inside them.If you live in a big city try finding a store that sells these. look for russian food.

Russian pancakes are also good. I put cherries in the center and wrap the pancake around it. It is called a creepe.

Do not buy american pancake mixes unless you can not find the russian ones. The russian ones have less sugar.

www.russiantable.com

Try it you might like it.This is all low fat food. The russian use other spices that are not bad for your body.Less sugar, less salt.

I gave you the russian food site to look for your self.

God did make a natraul sweetner.I am going to try soon. Honey!

It really is good for you.

Have you ever tried real maple syrup?

Use that for plain pancakes instead of that sugar stuff the stores sell.I will be in Canada soon and will buy some.

good idea try blueberry sryup for pancakes.

Blueberries fight cloestrol.

Oh I would say you can also find somethings on the internet.

If you like this idea please let me know as I am tring it to lose weight.

Less salt

less sugar

Try honey- little bit on bread at 1st.

I have read where honey can be used in pancakes intead of sugar.

I am looking in to that right now.Get back with you.Dennis

consistency is the key though, whatever you go with. which is where it becomes a philosophy and lifestyle. like a canoe, it's hard to get it going at first, but the longer and/or harder you try the easier it is, and if you stop you go slower and slower. you pretty much just have to jump in and not think about it, whether you want to or not. endorphines are a great reward. also incorporate yoga. it's the best thing you can do to protect against injuries while making you better and recover quicker for the next day.

also keep your joints and muscles warm by foregoing the cool basketball shorts and wearing warm ups or sweats and a thin nylon long sleeved shirt under your regular shirt. in addition to losing weight quicker it also decreases chance of injury. unless your about to overheat, in which case just take a layer off.

i also learned alot from runners magazines just from reading an article or little bits here and there. it's great for coming up with your own system and what works for you, which will make it more likely that it becomes a part of your lifestyle and conscience. btw this also works with investing and money management too. or at least it did for me, but hopefully you too.

Hi. I just sat here for what seems like an eternity to give you some really good advice, by my standards , and then the computer froze and ate all my info. Too disgusted to re-type it all and probably will not remember it all anyway. No, that will not help you but I must spend some get-over it time prior to trying again.

Actually, the amount of lean muscle you have directly impacts the speed and amount of weight you lose. The more muscle you have the more weight you can lose, faster.

You should see a doctor about losing weight. He/She can check out your muscle to fat ratio. Dont go by those "height to weight ratios". Thats cookie cutter diets and theyre doomed to fail. Im 5'9" and according to those ratios, I should weigh about 160lbs. Now, I actually weigh about 230, but I have a little over 10% body fat. Even if I had less than 2% body fat, which gets into the area of eating disorders, I would still weigh over 200lbs.

You should eat lean meat (nothing fried), alot of vegetables, fruits, and increase your exercise. Decrease your portions. One serving of meat should be about the size of a deck of cards. Taking multivitamins wouldnt hurt.
