Will average-looking, or not so average-looking Joe think a girl is too pretty or naturally alluring to be interested in her, even if she expresses interest in him? or if she takes pride in her appearance then is she materialistic and not bearing the fruit of herself in God's eye? I've read comments when looking at women and seeing what she values ...suggests its based on profile pixs.

In person, the "too pretty" idea might prevent a man from taking initiative; but it rarely inhibits him from reciprocating in person.

Online is a different animal. Most men will start with the women they find most attractive and work their way down. Attractive is a combination of both looks and the slightly perceivable personality and values. So, online, I'd say there is no such inhibition.

There's the question of the ages. I be honest (for once haha)

Let's look at my history. Especially in high school, I was freindly to any and all, nice. But I only dated gal's I was attracted to. And I wasn't looking for a perfect 10, blah. Just someone who physically attracted me. That's the human race for you. I never dated *pretty gals* who had terrible personalities. had to be a whole package.

It's not about being superficial, just real. And sometimes reality bites. Sometimes I'll see gals on here who look like supermodels, I rarely even give it a shot, not because I don't think I'm up for it, just, I've always been the pretty girl next door guy, not the supermodel type. It's all in the eye.

Rest assured, God knows what he's doing, even when we don't, you will find your man.

Alex, so why did you change your profile pic back to the melancholy? Are you still brooding? Man, dont. As many people have told you already, there is better in store for you.

On prettiness - well, sorry 'am not a guy, no clue. But I am curious, what dress size (female) attracts men. Is it really the double zeroes??? And what is considered overweight?

good rule of thumb is BMI. Since most women are not body builders, the more dense of muscle tissue compared to fat won't throw off the calculation as significantly as it can for fit men.

A BMI of 18 is super healthy, 16 is a good sign of anorexia, 23 is the tail end of healthy, and anything over than is considered overweight. I believe medical obesity sits at 40lbs over the 23 BMI mark, but I could be wrong.

As for hip size, I think most men would tell you size 0 is too small. Though being a short guy, I'm more concerned with proportions than the actual hip width.

Oh Bush! Are these the US measurements? I think not. My understanding is that 40 is morbidly obese.

...and you'r right on the bulkiness of muscles so at some doctor's office, you are asked if you are an athlete so they can adjust the machines correctly. I think for athletes, its +2 for each of the above.

But anyways, what do men like? this is more for thought provocation. I think at the end of the day, it is important to keep our focus on the right place - upwards than 'lookwards'.

Shunammite,

I had a good Christian friend of mine and his wife read a number of women's profiles to my son and I without looking at the women's photographs. While they read, my son and I kept track of the profiles we thought "sounded" most attractive based upon Christ like qualities, thoughtfulness and generally sounding healthy. The results were an eye opener as to what is truly important.

Yes, there are definitely girls that I find too pretty. I mean...I obviously like pretty girls....just like every guy that's honest. But some girls are just like..."whoa"...and I don't think I could handle "whoa". It just seems like a girl like that would always be getting hit on by guys, might even have that temptation to run off with brad pitt...it just seems like uber-pretty girls are kinda dangerous when it comes to relationships...maybe it's a self-esteem problem also. Who knows.

I don't think taking "pride" in your appearance is bad though. Depends on what you mean by pride. Are we talking vanity or just...that they like to be "presentable"?
