My question is, what on earth is it that would make you believe i were a robot or somebody else? o__o Lol Is there something on my profile that just screams "nope, she's definitely a phony! A big fat phony!" LoL! If there is, please let me know. (v__v ') If not, then is there a running fad of guys being fooled on here by fake profiles? (I know catfishing is a concern when meeting others online, but is it to the extent where someone would instantly be suspicious before even taking the time to get to know the person first??) I know there are SOME scammers here. I've encountered a couple definite scammers and a couple with whom something just felt weird. Personally, I would not ask, "are you real"? In my "presumption of innocence", I try to treat everyone at face value, but evaluate what I'm being told. If the story of someone's life seems to change ... if the pieces don't add up ... if the pictures don't really appear to be the same person ... if the name doesn't match the stated nationality ... if the FB page lists a different birthdate ... if the MySpace page linked to the FB page uses a different name ... I'm calling "foul" and bailing. And if somebody starts asking for money, I'm checking those things. And if a woman is acting like I'm just the most desirable man on the planet ... upon exchanging 3 messages ... she's either a scammer or crazy. :) Post Reply

You must be some kind of super ninja to think of all those tacts to prove someone is who they say they are lol It would start with a message or two, and before getting through the darn intros, I've been placed in a position to where my Existence is being questioned. Ah, did i give a reason for such suspicions? They hadn't even bothered to ask my name yet! Lol So i might go with your conclusion, they must be a tad bit loco lol. ^__^ I just wanted to make sure there wasn't even a slight bit of truth to their concerns. But when things felt wrong and the pieces weren't quite matching ... and she seemed crazy about me ... and needed money to get out of whatever Asian country she was "studying" in so we could meet ... I did an unofficial background check. Most people with whom I've communicated have seemed 100% genuine, so I've done no other checking. Post Reply

As long as you don't know who you are talking to, you don't have to call the other person "sweetheart," so it's unnecessary. Fake people start using beautiful words without even knowing who you are. That's one way you can tell who is fake and who isn't. A person who is real will want to know everything about you before they want to get close or use nice words. Some people tell "I Love you" to strangers, and some people say the word "Sweetheart" a lot to people they never met, but using such expressions with everybody can be very misleading... Post Reply

I speak that way to strangers or people i've known for years. It's not to flirt or sweet talk, I'm an old soul at times. Consider it country hospitality. I have been accused of sounding like someone's grandma with all the hun, darlin, speak. LoL! (i do a pretty wonderful impression if i do say so myself LoL ^////^) It's just part of my personality to speak warmly and sweet, no matter who it is. Ah, but everyone is different I suppose. It'd be pretty sad if my only allure toward "attracting" another, was using 'sweetheart'. If that was enough to make someone fall for me, then they must fall for pretty much anybody lol :p Post Reply

At first, I didn't find anything. But then I thought maybe that word. LOL But I wouldn't think you are a fake just because of one word. I honestly don't know. It would be kind of neat if this site verified the identity of each person somehow. For example, if we had to show a picture ID or something. I've heard of stories where guys posted pictures of women just to read what other guys write to them. I know this happens, but I hope it's rare. :)) Post Reply

Aww, right when i thought it was safe to venture out onto the net(the net, is Never safe >.> LoL) I would hope it wouldn't happen on a christian site. I came here to get away from all the curse words and such on facebook. :( (even deleted my facebook because i'd had enough of all the worldly mentions =__= ) Thank you honestly for pointing that out. Maybe I can try phrasing it a different way. ^__^ The last thing I'd want to do is scare potential friends away by seeming like i'm somehow a sly scammer of sorts :p Post Reply

Keep in mind though there are a lot of fake profiles of both guys and gals on here. One flag the Nigerian scammers (and native Nigerians) will have is they use the word 'dear' a lot, perhaps much like country folk here do. Your grammar is good however and theirs usually will not be.
