How many brothers.......

.....are seeking a sister with "substantial life experience" vs. one with "limited life experience"?

Now I know this question would obviously reflect on where you are in your life, your age and what experiences you yourself may have already had. I'm really trying to get at what the average brother prefers......why?.....well myself whose older, but yet young at heart(smile)lol, would appreciate being paired with someone mature, but with an innocence about them.....an openness of heart(smile)! Us both being able to learn, grow and appreciate life equally.......together! Honestly, I feel age is but a number, but an attitude of wanting and willing to share life anew with that special someone, takes more heart......though I understand some life experience won't hurt......just my thoughts(smile)!

What do you think guys?

"life experience" can mean different things. What are you referring to?

Ok "life experience"......well let's say you've been married......maybe once or twice.......divorced and maybe there were children to squabble over in the course of the proceedings. Had premarital sex and possibly had a child out of wedlock....drug abuse and addiction, possibly by no fault of your own, made jobless, or homeless, etc....."life experience"!

CG does this help?

I think that if we are really truthful with ourselves and with others, we would have to say we all have been around the block to some extent or another....There are some who have not had to fight to get out of one gutter or another, admittedly, but all our life experiences make us stronger if we wish. I believe that all the angels of heaven rejoice with Jesus when one sinner is brought to salvation...and that is where we all want to be...we should all aspire to be a smile on Jesus' face. That being said, an ex drug addict...an ex this or an ex that who is brought to that point of grace has much to be thankful for...and when he or she finds that grace and also a spouse who will covenantally love her until time is no more and can do the same...then surely those who have been granted much forgiveness can accept the other in the same manner. There is no way that I cannot support my future wife simply because she has been around the block, I have been there myself and many things I may be but being a hypocrite is not something that I wish to aspire to. Been there dun that...

dr.....thank you for your candid response! You confirmed what my heartfelt intentions were in writing this post......the transparent love of God for his creation.....saved or unsaved! No one will ever start this life journey, or end it in perfection, without submitting to the saving grace of Christ!!

From my experiences, life in Christ works out that way(smile)! In my opinion, it's just that simple!

In some ways, when I reread my response, I feel that to tell the whole truth of some of the things I have done or had to do to survive, would make some people cringe in disbelief and run for the hills. As a soldier many years ago, some actions would now be considered unconscionable but i was forgiven and those actions are now under grace....

Were I in love and under covenant with a lady I would stand with her and fight and perhaps even die, but rather live, for her right to be under grace...the same grace extended to me...I am as great a sinner as any man under heaven but God has given me the grace to be free of the horror of my sin...I could do no other than to be the Covenantal man She has asked God for and extend Gods' grace...surely we cannot stand under the Throne of God and do less...

Your question deserves serious consideration and response but really demands a response even if only in a philosophical debate on the nature of forgiveness.

Well, if "life experience" means that you have been married, divorced, had children, premarital sex, drug abuse, additions, been jobless, homeless, etc., then, yes, I would like to find someone who has very limited life experience! Haha :)

I would agree that all of us are sinners saved by Grace! However as a single, never married, believing sex is only for after marriage, and no children and never having smoked or drank and worked hard all my life why should I have to accept as my life companion a woman who had done all of the above things? If I have had the courage and strength with the help of Jesus to stay faithful I feel I should expect to find the same in a woman! It sure is hard to find that kind of woman today! Almost impossible here in America
