3Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; 4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. 6Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. 8Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 11For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. 12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one anothers feet. 15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Yes dear,

Selflessness & self service to one onother

(which takes me back to our long chatt about marriege, we did talk about serving one onother in the body of Christ)

"You are happy if you know these things and do them, for no servent is greater then the master"

It will take genuine love born from the fruits of the Holy spirit for the church to put this activity of feet washing into practice.

Without over spiritualizing this what I see is this.......

How many times have we walked past the dirty towel on the floor? How many times have we walked past the dirty dish's on the counter? How many times have we walked past some simple task that we felt was not our duty?

Asking our selves why hasent so and so done this? Or I should tell so and so to do this? I am mad at so and so for not doing this.

Like Peters pride in saying not me Lord. We too elivate our selves above others. I have been guilty of this.

But Jesus tells us if we do we have nothing to do with Him. Powerful words. Why? because the nature of God is to serve and if we are Gods then our nature should be one of service too, right?

What I see in Jesus example is that He just did it. He didnt look for someone else to do it, He just did it.

He was showing us the example of stewadrship when it comes to service of people. It is in the small mondain things of life we become bitter is it not?

It is in the small stewardship's of life if we are faithful and have the right attitude God will give more to us.

I wounder in the Kingdom of God what service we willl live out, since Gods nature is that of a servant and as we live out eternity we must be living out service to oneanother in some way.

How might we serve oneanother here in this community?

How might we just do it?

For me I would like my self to be less critical and more accepting of you.

Realising that we are all persuing the same goal. Faith and relationship with God as we search out His word.

It is wounderful to be part of so many peoples lives who care for and love God and desire to know Him in His word.

I have come to an appreciation for all of you even those I do not always agree with.

Love you all!!

I am sure this must speak to the heart of every woman who is now feeling overwealmed by the many tasks and responsibilities you have. The need for a partner who is responsible and empathetic to your need for help.

Who is not lazy and selfish. This is why this is posted in the male section. Love all you ladies who are out there doing it on your own.

You good woman....

the thing that shines to me is the humility,

Jesus did not do what He wanted to do,

Jesus did not do what they wanted Him to do,

Jesus did only what needed to be done....

As I read through your above replies about serving one onother,

I'm reminded of the assignment that you gave me last week when you told me to go ask for a hug from God,

Then go after & find someone whose in need of a hug & give a hug compationately out of a genuine attitude, look at that person in the eyes & tell that I love them.

I did dear,

Infact the desire of soul winning subject was influenced by that instruction from you dear friend.

Nonetheless

I have found a lady who'm in my spirit I feel she needs & deserves a break. She's been through sooo much as my spirit decends' every time i'm around her. She's old enough to be my mother.

I told her that i've adopted her as my mother now, she was happy when I told her that.

I really love her Micheal, just wanna empty my self every time i'm with her. And when i'm alone with God,

Don't know what to say about her, compation just overwhelms me. Guess the Holly spirit knows what my inner most being want to say in prayer for her.

We have a date in my place so we can share a meal together (i'm not really comfortable of bringing her to my place of privacy just yet, only time will tell if I should as i'll be getting to know her better with time) through she enjoys my meals. We have our sport where we meet.

Thank you Micheal for asking me to find a humble person who just needs a hug, it was a little risky I mist say, hense I've chosen a woman so my intentions are not misinterpreted,

So I don't expose my self in danger too.

I'm amazed daily after i've met her,

I'm amazed how beautiful love can be,

I've never let someone in my heart in years now,

And having to think of someone & look forth to see her again,

Is jut what I needed,

I needed purchase.

I was too concerned of getting my life off the ground and niglacted the very assignment from God,

Soul winning & loving He's people.

The church I grew up practiced feet washing....my parent's church still does. I must say it was challenging to participate as a child with the 'older ladies'...

I understand and appreciate the humble act; however, I have come to a different understanding whether it is a required part of a communion service.

I believ Christ was showing to His disciples that if He could perform such a task on others, an act of humility to those of 'lesser status', that they (we) should do likewise.

I think of it similar to the way it has been presented...we should not be too proud to do basically anything for someone else.

I also think that we should accept help from others...not be too proud to express the need or accept an offer of assistance.
