Why is it that the few men I have chatted with on this site are looking for a marriage so soon before they meet me or get to know me. It has turned me off a little. Don't get me wrong I want to be married, but I want to get to know the guy first before he starts giving me false promises.

i guess people think that, because you're here, all you want is to get married asap. that's not true. its still like, you know, you want to GET TO KNOW THEM for a while.
Thanks for replying Starr, I guess I'm just a little old-fashioned sometimes in wanting to take things slow, I lived the fast life in relationships before I got saved, now I just want to take my time.
Taking your time, not too much time though, to get to know someone is not only very smart, it's very wise. Proverbs 21:5 says
"The thoughts of the [steadily] diligent tend only to plenteousness, but everyone who is impatient and hasty hastens only to want." King Solomon was referring to people in regards to finances, how those "get rich quick" schemes are nothing but trouble.
The fact that you have a desire to get to know someone FIRST, says that you are willing to wait on God for the right timing. God has made everything beautiful in its time. And that's the key phrase..."it its time." Good attitude, sister, keep at it.
I think a fair number of people on this site have been trying for a long time to find love and get married. The long journey has made them a little desperate and I think that is why you are seeing some men act this way.
At some point the desire to be married can become greater than finding and enjoying the person God has for you. When that happens you see people who want to get married because in their minds that has become to prize. Not the relationship or the person.
Every "Free" dating site is overran with Arabs that spam every decent looking woman with marriage in order to have them move over to India, Iran and such to be one of their wives. It's extremely common and annoying for the rest of us real people. The reason they can ask for marriage in their first conversation is because they don't care what your personality is like, once you get over there you have no rights and they can beat you into submission. NO JOKE.
well, i have to disagree with u , i have known some arabs through my life and travels who were really descent , open minded, and respectful for both women and u as a human being more than u think they are, some are also a way more eductaed than us the americans, so i think u should not talk in general terms about specific people while others can do the same and even worse.
I have to disagree strongly with you Evan. Yes there are conmen from Asian and African countries, and maybe even Arabian ones too. Being poor and looking for a better life, they lie or use their charms or innocent western women in the hope that these women will send them money or marry them. However that does not describe all of us, besides there are such conmen in western countries too.
I have come across many people on sites I visit whom openly state that if you are from India, Pakistan, Africa, etc then they have no interest in talking to you. You say we don't care about what someones personality is like, and I say it happens both ways.

America is the most godless countries in the world. The European Union wants to remove the word "God" from their constitution. Obama just signed a bill which allows embryonic stem cell research. Then theres Guantanamo Bay. Then theres the small matter of most of the televangelists coming out of America. Matthew 7, Matthew 24 & 2 Peter 2 speak about such false prophets. The Bible tells us not to live in debt (Romans 13:8) while America is a country built on debt. I could ramble on and on... my point being.. maybe your country isn't so great that we'd want to con women into marrying us so that we could come there.

WALTER: I think Evan's statement is fairly accurate and I do not think his words indicated nor implied that everyone from those countries are scammers or are criminals or treat women badly. I believe his assessment is correct. Men..in general... from countries such as Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia etc. do treat women as if they are their "property" and have low respect for them. There is no debate on this as it has been exposed here in America for quite some time. I do not believe that he is even talking about Christian men from those countries either.
Now you seem to be confused as to the differences between American "Politics", ie the corrupt Federal Government" as opposed to the American People. There is a significant difference. Many Americans do not approve of what the Despots in the Government are doing or have done and unfortunately many Americans are deceived and do not understand that "WE the People" are the boss and the Government is our servant. As a Government, The USA does many things illegally and people from other countries have good reasons to be angry at it and many of us Americans are. On the other hand as a people, the American people are the most generous and as Christians we Evangelize the most over any nation....approximately 95%. We have the greatest of Liberty from a political perspective though we are losing our liberties more and more because of the apathy and ignorance of the American people who have been "dumbed down" over time. We are quickly now becoming a Fascist/Socialist/Communist State. The "Republic" may soon be gone if we do not take the appropriate action. Let me not get going on this subject.
As far as being "the most godless nation"....i have to disagree with you. It depends on how you are making that assessment. Since America is responsible for 95% of the spreading of the Gospel worldwide, please explain how that makes us "the most godless" country in the world. What percentage of people in your country are non-Christians? What about Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia? Europe? These countries pale in comparison. Also please forgive me if that comes across as prideful as that is not my intention. I am just pointing out to you that your assessment is not correct or even close.
As far as Televangelists are concerning the vast majority of them or frauds, scammers themselves and preach a False Gospel. Please do not judge Christians based upon that either.
As far as the women here not being so great that you would want to "con" them so as to come over here....well....If that were the case then why is there a great amount of effort from Foreigners doing just that?
Please also do not include solid Christian women in your assessments either as they are generally not the same as the worldly ungodly women in America.
