Hair guys?...I am not my hair...
Posted : 17 May, 2012 02:55 PM

I read a post asking why men respond to messages or why not (I wonder this too). One guy really sparked a thought when he posted "hair" a couple of times.

Is it the hair? Really? Is it all that important? I am a woman who went from weaves and chemicals to embracing the natural texture of what I was blessed with (not knocking the weaves or chemicals) but I realized, I, as a woman have the ablility to look nice either way. Ultimately character will speak volumes over the hair and any exterior asset. Hair can change....

By the way I am not some naturalist who is against products (well some lol) but I just made a decision to be...Naturally Me (weave, no weave, curls, straight hair, even baldy well im not sure I would go that far willingly) All I am saying is what is inside is more valuable

Any thoughts?

When looking for a lasting, lifelong relationship that extends well beyond the days when a person looks the way they do 'right now' it is indeed 'whats on the inside' that counts. For Christians, ideally, the most attractive things should be ones personal relationship with the Lord and the 'fruit' that we will know them by.

That said we all have things that are pleasing to the eye and it varies from person to person. While these things are not of equal importance by any means it's not necessarily shallow to seek them. They may fade in time but truly as you have spent that many years with them by then you will have come far more attracted to them on a personal level than those physical attributes ever provided.

For me personally, hair doesn't matter a bit. Color, style, length, even bald. For some men and women however it matters whereas something I look for may not matter at all to them.

Thanks guys!

No offense taken but it sure makes a good discussion post. While you were kidding, which I figured, some guys seriously feel that way. I just wanted to shed a little light on the inner rather than the outter for a sec. Thats all. Thanks again!

I agree that natural is always preferable to non-natural especially when it comes to color.

Amen GodsDaughter.

Unfortunately, for the "fruit" of someone's life (the presence of the Holy Spirit within someone mind you) to be attractive above all else requires that one be equally attracted to the Lord already...and that is extremely rare.

Ruth is one of the most amazing examples of such an attraction to the Lord. So much so that our Savior was brought through her lineage even though she was not an Israelite...

God bless

It's totally not a deal breaker for me, but I have a natural preference to women with brunette/black hair. I find darker hair more attractive to blonde hair, but does that mean you're out of the game if you're blonde? Heck no! I ultimately pray and seek Him about it when regarding a relationship. His will > mine. :)

When all the heavy spiritual talk is said and done, the truth is, attractive people get more offers.

In our culture and perhaps especially in the church we love to cling to the notion that "it's the inside that counts."

As if the outside is just for shallow people.

Look if you want to put your car, house, or self on the market (so to speak) you should do those things which make the best presentation.... so that you get the best offer.

I guess you can call this fake, phoney, plastic or whatever but this is the way it has worked for countless centuries and if you think about it, their marriages based on this shallowness lasted longer than most of your friends did.

Somethings we can change, somethings we can't: work with what you have and make the most with what you have.

And when that charm and and beauty wins a worthy mate your personality and inner beauty will grow roots that will keep em around even when the outside goes south with age.

At least that's the way it used to work. :glow:

Speaking from Gods word.

Many women will not like what I am going to write here.

Gods word talks about a wife having a quite spirit not quarrelsome or contentious. This is the inner woman.

Our culture has bred women to compete with men. Most women dont even realise they are doing this.

Gods word also says a womans hair is her glory. Their are certain lengths that speak volumes to a man.

For me long hair speakes that the woman looks soft, feminine, womanly.

This edgy look with women cutting their hair to me is a sign of a rebellious nature of a woman. Hard and competitive.

Now I know not every woman is this way inside. I am only referring to image.

I also know for my self that a womans long hair distracts me from other areas that my eye would want to look at.

I love a beautiful neck line and other things I cant wright here. Their is something captivating about long flowing beautiful hair.

We need a trend for women to be women once again.
