Posted : 8 Aug, 2011 10:57 AM I don't think (hope not at least) you'd get treated like that by anyone in the forums, but there's a whole host of 'silent' members and who knows their reasons for joining up... Don't let it discourage you, keep trying as some will respond. Having said that, a profile pic would help you, and do make sure you're the type of person and location they say they're looking for before messaging them. Post Reply

I was going to check out the profile to see if she "yelled" in her profile. Using all CAPS is a negative for sure. We all should try to be sensitive to others when sending/receiving notes. It doesn't take a lot of time to say thanks, but I don't think we have enough in common, or I'm looking for someone closer to my age, or I prefer to stay within my denomination, or some other non-threatening, non-critical statement. It's just an exchange of messages not a marriage proposal or necessarily a request for a date. If you passed the individual on the street or attended a church service together, wouldn't you at least smile and say "hi"? Now if it's one of those scanners....you're my soulmate, e-mail at...on the initial note...those you should ignore! Post Reply

When I started on these types of sites, I di what I don't usually do...read up on the common expectations....the standard was to acknowledge a greeting. You never know where it might lead...sometimes it's a friendly conversation that might keep me motivated to stay active on the site. Maybe I am an encouragement to someone else. I make a habit of saying hi to just about everyone I pass on the street, in the hall at work, around the church, etc. This forum is very similar to that environment. Although on here, I do limit those who can send messages to me to those who do not smoke or drink and are in what I consider a reasonable age range for me...part of what I consider equally yolked. I also dont hold long communications with those who don't speak english well, or are in the indo-china area. I do try to answer any mail that is sent my way no matter where they are from as I invite all potential friendships. This is why I do not block users outside the U.S. I have tried in the past to explain these things on my profile but even if it is on the headline it doesn't seem understood. I'm sure, as one responder said, there are those who have impure motives and are looking to serve those motives, unfortunetely all get labeled because of the actions of the few, what's the word... stereotyped. Communications in text form are difficult enough and are easily misunderstood. However, if close attention is paid to what one says on their profile, many misunderstandings can be avoided. If one says little or nothing about themselves on their profile, there's nothing to base any compatabilities on, soooo? Post Reply

I really think if this works well here you gotta have the 6 photos, verify by cam, and chat good and well to learn about one another like we do in the flesh and bone world, "out there". I am bilingual in Spanish and English so no problem there, but I do have trouble in some that write me that is gibberish or cannot be deciphered no matter what I do to the mail to try and understand it. And also, so many of the women here are sooooooooooo angry, bitter, cold and so religious they claim literally they are little Jesus instead of servants of Jesus Christ by Grace.
