As I reflect today on the celebration going on all over the United States in honor of the birthday of Dr. King, I am humbled by his work and the ultimate sacrifice he paid trying to ensure the rights of minorities and us all.

The fact that he is only one of 3 people who have the individual honor of being recognized for his contribution in the shaping of America is inspiring. (George Washington and Columbus)

I can only try to pass on to my children the legacy of he and the others that were jailed, beaten and killed fighting for what the Constitution promised.

I'm pulling his speech up on youtube to watch with my children and as I do, I'll be thinking about what he would think had he lived to see President Obama take office.

I pray we as a people and nation continue to move forward toward equality so that our past one day will be nothing but a,"Once Upon A Time....

Charles (my brother from another mother), you are the only one that could have gotten me back to this thread. I thanked ionlydatecheerleaders in his inbox.

I appreciate this story just I did when you posted it on FB. Stories like that goes along with the spirit in which I first wrote the thread, before 2sp and Pixy started trippin'.

I sometimes wish I had been born to picket and help my peeps get our civil rights but of course it's much better (and less painful, I'm sure) to just be the recipient of the work already done.

I'm so glad God chose me and my children to be born now and that they weren't born slaves. I'm glad I didn't ever have to see them sold away from me never to see them again or my little girls molested or my boys worked til they couldn't stand anymore.

I am grateful.

Christians should not be of any party. But should be supporters of Godly values. who in politics does that nowadays?????

Since when is somebody "trippin'" when they believe that politics should reflect Biblical values? There's something wrong when a Christian who is sharing about political beliefs that are IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BIBLE feels persecuted for voicing such beliefs on a Christian message board! *sheesh* I feel like I might as well just be posting on a secular board lately.

Pixy, how do you think Babygirl feels? She did not attack you. Actually, she gracefully bowed out of the political conversation so as not to cause strife among believers; I think that's an admirable thing.

With love,

I never have got use to the fact that when one member posts something on here that another disagrees with, they are brow beat to death in "brotherly love." Why are only a chosen few allowed to share their opinions, begin posts, or contribute on here. I guess as long as you are making juvenile jokes, posting topics about underwear, or tearing down each other, it's ok. As I shared before in another post not too long ago, this isn't the same Christian online site I joined last year. No wonder members are dropping lke flies. I think I'm going to join them.

Pixy, its trippin when you come onto a MLK appreciation thread with a political conversation that had nothing to do with what was being said. Neither you or 2sp have been black for one minute of your lives but you are evidently quite the experts on the subject at hand.

I was not talking about his politics, how well he's doing in office or whether he does or does not reflect Biblical principles. I was making the point that IN A COUNTRY WHERE MY 86 YR OLD GRANDPARENTS COULDN'T VOTE A MERE 60 YRS AGO, WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT. I was reflecting on how far we have come. If you were black, you would have a clue as to what I am talking about. But its typical....

And I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you're on a secular site. If I could tell you how many people have been and are vexed by your self promoting, attention seeking posts, you would know that you more than anyone has encouraged secular thinking by pulling ppl into their flesh and out of the Spirit.

If you think I'm carnal and can't take my responses to your foolishness , why don't we agree to disagree and you stay off my threads and I'll stay off yours.

Also well said!

I completely understand where your coming from!

I urge you not to give a hickup of a thought to that immature girl... She is NOT

by any means worth it.
