As I reflect today on the celebration going on all over the United States in honor of the birthday of Dr. King, I am humbled by his work and the ultimate sacrifice he paid trying to ensure the rights of minorities and us all.
The fact that he is only one of 3 people who have the individual honor of being recognized for his contribution in the shaping of America is inspiring. (George Washington and Columbus)
I can only try to pass on to my children the legacy of he and the others that were jailed, beaten and killed fighting for what the Constitution promised.
I'm pulling his speech up on youtube to watch with my children and as I do, I'll be thinking about what he would think had he lived to see President Obama take office.
I pray we as a people and nation continue to move forward toward equality so that our past one day will be nothing but a,"Once Upon A Time....
How is having a socialist in office who is trying to strip the American people from their constitutional rights and liberties a sign of how far we've come? It's a sign of HOW FAR WE'VE STRAYED. He's against the very things that MLK stood for. Just because someone has dark skin does not mean that he's pro-liberty or pro-constitution... And the fact that's he's black doesn't neutralize the evil that he's imposing upon our country.
Although we may have a whopping 0.012% difference in our genetic makeup, I still consider you, MY PEOPLE!
Btw, did you know it is in the Bible that Adam was not black?
Genesis 2:21 says how God took a rib from the man to make woman.
Ever tried to take a rib from a black man? : )
Love you Sister in Humanity, Sister in America, and most important Sister in Christ!
Just remember your ancestors and mine went on a cruise for 150 days and got off the boat as One......if you count there are only about 50 generations between US and OUR great great grand father Noah!
Seeing that this a public, free forum Pixy, you are of course entitled to your opinion. I realize that I'm on a forum full of Republicans so that is why I don't usually talk politics with yall. Especially, since so many of you think you have to be Republican to be a Christian.
I usually like it when a topic expands and develops but I'm truly sorry I gave you an opening to talk about my dude.
Anyway.....2sp, you most definitely are MY PEOPLE too.
I have a melting pot of mixed grandchildren. One is half-African America, one is 1/4 African American, one is half-mexican and the others are some mixed breeds on English, Creek Indian, French Canadian Indian and Lord knows whatever else there is.
So this is what I tell them: there is only one race and that is the HUMAN RACE. :glow:
God made different skin colors, eye colors, tree types and you name it, this is a diverse world. It is a shame that African Americans were treated less than animals and I am all for equality. My nephew started telling a N...er joke to me, a few years ago at our family Christmas and I reamed him.
I told him to look in the other room at those beautiful grandchildren of mine and notice the lovely, different skin colors and ain't one of them is to be called that name or any other name... like funky white girl, dumb Pollock, Jew, dumb blond or any other prejudice statement . He turned real red and apologized. Nuff said there~:boxing:
I hear all you are saying and it is no different than how the Jews were treated during the holocaust, Native Americans, past, present and future, Hispanics past, present and future and Christians past, present and future and any other ethnic group not liked by certain others. Ignorant people exist and will be judged by God Almighty.
I had a Native American husband who was very prejudiced toward the whites for killing his people, true but we cannot look back as Paul said~"forgetting those things that are behind and press forward."
My second husband was 100% Hispanic and told stories of how his people were treated in Texas in the past. He also fought with blacks all through high school because of their color and culture. It is total ignorance.
I do think favoring one skin color over the other has its problems, like TS said. Job applicants need to be picked based on skills, regardless of skin color and the same for college grants etc.
What if I started members only clubs for my 10 grandchildren?
1/2 black granddaughter can eat chocolate ice cream and spend the night whenever they want as well as sit in the front seat when riding with Nana, because their people were discriminated against so now I'm going to make it up to them by overcompensating?
1/2 Mexican granddaughter can use my computer anytime, get hailed for being a Mexican class president in her school by me and will be the family leader at all times because of her people's past persecution?
The others will be penalized because they did not suffer as much, so big deal if one of them makes the senate or white house.
Do you see how wrong this mentality is? When God measures us, He uses a spiritual tape measure around our hearts, not our skin color or brains.
I am neither Republican nor Democrat and find Obama to be a disgrace as our president because of his non-Christian stance on moral issues like abortion, gay rights, support of scary Muslim radical rights on our soil and criminal friends, racist friends like the preacher he is close to. That is an oxymoron for a so-called Christian.
I don't care if our president is black, white, red or yellow. What is in his heart towards Jesus is what matters. Most of our past presidents probably have some type of other nationality in their blood, anyway.
Now liberal women are pushing for the first woman president. I just don't see God doing to "box" thing at all, after Jesus included everyone into the salvation plan. He also allowed non-Jews to join the club if they worshiped Him alone, and followed His protocol for a good, blessed life.
I celebrate the diversities but will not make choices of who should be promoted, hired, favored and picked for some position based on that fact. I also support equal opportunity everything across the board. :peace:
I agree 100% with your view. And the real truth is : Our view is the 'most discriminated' against view! I think we deserve chocolate ice cream while riding in the front seat!...lol
Favoring one color over another has to be CUT OFF CLEAN FROM THE PAST by people of all colors if things are ever going to heal. I am tired of people picking at the scab and complaining it's not healing fast enough.
Joey, girl, you look good to be somebody's grandma! You better go girl!:applause:
Again, I don't talk politics with yall, and I will keep that stance. The view you and 2sp have is in fact, one of great beauty, tolerance and filled with love. Now if the other 6 billion ppl in the world held your same view, racial discrimination (the reason why AA was put into effect, slavery of any kind would never have happened and we would have heaven on Earth with no need for Jesus' second coming. The view I have has been formed based on the world we live in vs the one we all wish we had. AA and things of that nature came about as a reaction to the racial actions of others.
I understand your view and honestly agree with yall, but its very convienent and pat for those not effected by discrimination to have such lovely views. Again, I don't disagree with you all about how it should be, but I think if you were a minority here, you would understand why I and others have our view.
I know that even though I started the thread, I can't dictate the way it develops, but I will say I don't like how it has developed. I would never have started a thread that I knew would develop into a Obama bashing thread. If you all continue to do that, go ahead and have at it. You all seem to be on the same page concerning him, so I'm sure yall will have lots of fun. I will bow out of it though and yall do what ya do.
Thanks so much for all of yalls participation. Oh, I will answer anything that has been said in this post, excluding politics. Won't leave ya hangin'!:yay:
I don't want to continue on the politics thing, either, but I will say this and not hijack your thread anymore, sorry.
Bashing and judging a person's moral stance is two different thing. If I was going to bash him, it would be calling him names and making it personal, which is neither Christlike nor mature.
His actions and morals are to be judged by other Christians if he says he is one. Most Christians stop after this verse:
1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
But we need to read the rest of the scripture, be right in our hearts with God and judge BEHAVIOR and BELIEFS in a spirit of humility and love; not deciding their eternity.
3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.
Notice: THEN YOU WILL SEE CLEARLY TO REMOVE THE SPECK FROM YOUR BROTHER'S EYE. If I love my brother, I will judge his behavior as he will mine. ~Selah~
As for being the minority? Girl...... being a vocal stallion of a Christian with two unmarried daughters that had babies by black and mexican guys (within two years of each other)... while I was a "celebrity singer, leader, teacher" in my church?.... is about as minority as you can get.
I am not loved by the crowd anymore and realized after that....I never have been. I don't expect to be loved by many, either. This is the road less traveled and I just ask for the strength to endure and not love my life unto death. It could happen to any of us for our faith.
