Admin	A Poem Written By My 11 Year Old Son That Is Being Published Posted : 1 Aug, 2009 06:24 PM SILVER FORMING Silver Silver, shining as a jewel, Flowing swiftly acroos the land. Like a gleaming eagle, soaring over the clouds Slowly but surely, it is transforming the land The harshest of rains turns to the gentlest snowfall. A thick lather of shimmering snow blankets the land In a breathtaking sight of pure majesty. A raging storm changes to a flowing breeze of purist Silver A glistening layer of new life hangs in the air The tallest peak turns to a young mountain standing strongly. As suddenly as a snow leopard captures its prey All is changing Silver ice molds itself into a glorious land of indescribable newness Its shining beauty shuns all darkness and sorrow. Author, My eleven year old son (he just turned twelve) My son wrote this poem while in school. Then the school entered it into a national poetry competition. Meanwhile, I was never told anything about it. :goofball: I had no idea he'd ever even written a poem before. Months passed until one day I received an official looking letter in the mail with my son's name on it. I opened the letter and here's this poem (evidently written by my kid) with a notification that he'd won a national poetry contest, and that his poem was going to be published in a hard bound book!:excited: 1st I thought it was funny:ROFL: Then it hit me that this was actually pretty cool:peace: And then I couldn't believe I hadn't been told about this:angeldevil: Talk about being left out of the loop! I had that happen to me when I was 16, I won a state poetry contest, without even trying. Now teach him to play guitar and he can be a song writer too 8) Post Reply
