Talkin 'bout my day...

I just want to talk about my day today; I don't really have any close friends around to really talk about stuff and I kind of miss it sometimes.

Today wasn't even a horrible day, it was just one of those roller-coaster days going up and down and up and down. Today was my church day; I took a two-hour bus ride to fellowship and worship with English-speaking believers. I usually eat lunch with a large Filipino group, who always speak their native tongue leaving me to just sit there and imagine what they are saying, but today I was invited to eat lunch with a group of Americans and Australians. It was pretty exciting to me. The best conversation I had was when I asked my friend's husband if they ate alot of American food and he listed off every kind of American food they eat. When he returned the question all I could say was "grilled cheese", but since I haven't had money for cheese or bread it kind of killed that idea. After lunch I went shopping with another family from my city (that city, being bigger, has bigger selections of western food) and then we went back together. The whole time I was with them I just felt like I was an unneeded burden or something. When we got back to our city they just left without saying goodbye. I don't know why it bothered me so much, but it really did.

So, how is/was your Sunday?

You don't have any friends where you're at?

Well, this Sunday has been unusual. I actually didn't go to church this morning, and I missed it. No, I'm not intentionally being a "heathen!" I'm out of town for a few days helping my mom take care of her ill parents, and don't have a church here that I'm comfortable attending. Besides...my mom is spending time with my grandmother who is in the hospital, which means that I have to take care of my grandfather who is in very poor health. He can't be left alone for more than a few minutes at a time unless he's napping. So, I did some personal devotions this morning instead of going to church (I usually do them in the evening, so I'll do them twice today!)

This is how my Sunday is going: My mom stayed home for a while this morning and let me sleep late, so I woke up around 10:30am, did devotions, checked on my grandfather, checked my emails and facebook, fixed and ate lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, and got on CDFF while grandpa is taking a nap. Now, I need to go get my shower before he wakes up, then I'll probably do some housework, wash some clothes, play on FB if grandpa doesn't need anything, fix supper, play Scrabble and Yahtzee with him and my mom for several hours, do more devotions, play online for a while, then go to bed. I'll get up and do the same thing all over again tomorrow, most likely.

I'm just glad that I'm on Christmas break and can help out...it would be nearly impossible for my mom to do all of the care-giving by herself.

I do have friends, it's just that they are Chinese and they don't understand half of what I say.

Haha. Oh I see. That's kinda what it was like in Korea except there were Americans there too. But I can understand them not understanding half of what you're saying thing and what that's like. Language/communicating is a funny thing sometimes.
