Admin	Moving Posted : 26 Sep, 2010 02:41 PM hm, just realized there isn't a Travel section on here. I'd suggest it if I thought the admins would actually do something about it, but haha I don't. Anyway, let's say you have to move from where you currently live. Where would you go and how would you decide? -OR- To be more specific, this is the situation I'll be in when I leave (Assuming they can't give me a $10,000 bonus and duty station in Italy. Not holding my breath, but I'd only re-enlist for nothing less than that). I'll have enough money to buy a condo or town house that's good enough for a single person to live in a nice part of the city, a car, a motorcycle, GI bill is paying all college expenses. If you were in that situation, how would you choose? Just interested in what your answer would be for you or for me. Mostly just for fun. Post Reply

Regarding moving, I would probably pick Charlotte or Nashville if I were looking for a brand new city. Athens, GA is still home to me, and I have a solid group of friends there, so I'd really probably just go back there. I don't know if that helps you make your decision much, but that's my answer. Do you know any of the folks from Redeemer Pres.? I don't go to church there, but have several friends who do. Just wondering if we have mutual friends! Anyway, if I had to move, I think I'd probably either move to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere just to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, or I'd move to a mid-sized college town similar to Athens. I did get to visit Katy, TX this summer though, and that was a really nice area...never would have thought that I'd like Texas! Post Reply

And, save up the money to buy a beautiful house as an investment and future needs. It wouldn't take me forever to be deployed in Italy anyway :goofball: Since I am not you (and I sure don't want to be you lol).. And if I could possibly choose, I would move to Colorado and attend Andrew Wommack's church there, also attend his bible college :hearts: buy a house there and starts a business. Not to mention, got married and have cute children :hearts: Anyway, the second paragraph wouldn't help you much, I think lol but that's what I would do for fun :applause: Post Reply

I've never been, but as high a turnover as Presbyterian churches in Athens have, I can't imagine I don't know a good number of people there. I forgot to include Austin and Denver to my list of possible cities. I know a couple Christians who go to OU (quite a way away, I know), and are from the area, so I wouldn't be completely alone in Texas. Plus, I love texas country. Post Reply

You can also research colleges in the regions you are interested in. Princeton Review and U.S. News put out yearly reports. The communities that the colleges are located in are part of the evaluation. God's blessings on your search. Post Reply

I actually go to a bi-weekly Bible study that is taught by a couple of guys from Redeemer. Good folks out there. View Profile History	Moving Posted : 28 Sep, 2010 02:35 PM The thing that intrigues me about Vegas is the lack of sprawl you see in most other comparable cities. Yes it's definitly got city stuff, but there are also other places to go to rock climbing or fish or parks to visit or even if you wanted to take a trip to Lake Tahoe or Yosimte you could even do that. It also still has that west coast feel, especially where things feel new and exciting like Phoenix does. Oh yeah and it's sunny, but not sweltering. There are enough pluses there for me to make it a little more than just an idea I toy around with. The only real draw back I have is that it is pretty much the debauchery capitol of the U.S., but that's just more incentive to find a good church family there definitly. When I first get out I'm just going to go to a junior college to finish my associates in computer information systems while I get adjusted to civilian life again and get a better idea of where I want to go to college after that. Not a bad place to live temporarily, but not lay down any roots, which is ideal to be honest. Post Reply
