Uh....seriously? We're not supposed to take life seriously? ......which part? You probably mean...."don't worry so much", right?

Please note the "so" before the seriously. "Is there anything too hard for The Lord?" With a God like that "don't take life so seriously" is a VERY accurate summation of grace/trust...

So how seriously should we take it then? Is there like...a base line of seriousness? What happens if we aren't serious enough? If we're too serious? I might be taking this too seriously...:laugh:

If Jesus said a majority of people go to Hell, with only few finding the narrow road to Heaven, I would definitely think about taking life seriously. I don't know about you, but I believe and take Jesus at His word.

Jesus declared, "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." ~ Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus said, "Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will NOT be able!" ~ Luke 13:24

And Jesus wasn't talking about those who aren't Christian. He was SPECIFICALLY talking about those who call themselves Christians!

Jesus proclaimed, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord.." And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" ~ Matthew 7:21-23

It is possible, and in my opinion, extremely common for our post modern culture to take everything too seriously. Blame it on consumerism, social isolation, or just more things other than God to chase after to fill our void and satisfy our stupid human fears and weaknesses. If you don't stop and remind yourself of this you will never see the love, peace, joy, and grace that Jesus is and gives to those who come to Him. It is also possible to come to Him begging and pleading for Him to give them, but you never get them because you're too busy begging and pleading to realize He already IS offering them and that you haven't just recieved them. Acceptance is the key. Not desperate seeking.

(add on)...for the sake of desperate seeking because we can't just accept how good He takes care of and provides for us.

You get peace from God, so you don't need to take things seriously.

But if you have peace, this means you are going down the right path.

If something it troubling you, in your spirit it means you're obviously sinning. So peace would naturally come from praying to God, and doing his will. Letting him take the reins.

Good point. As long as we do what God asks, then we don't have to take life seriously. This life is passing away, right? It's all vanity and grasping for the wind anyway...
