Admin	Is there really the "one" or is the "one" whomever we choose? Posted : 17 Jun, 2010 08:09 PM I am not a fatalist. I don't like it when people start talking about life as if they were handed it in a script and told to read it. There are so many out there who really believe that God has preordained or predestined someone to be their "one" (how predestination goes from salvation to finding a mate, I can't find in Scripture) and will not budge until that "one" comes a long? This "one" is normally the ideal rather than real, meaning that is the person they "want" but not the person they "need." How come so many people who find their "one" get divorced or end in bad marriages? Could it be that their "one," really wasn't as picked out as they thought? Or could it be that the "one" is a myth, a legend created by people to give them solace through their long years of singleness? Maybe there isn't a one, maybe God let's us choose the "one" so that we can lean or not lean on his wisdom? Or maybe there is a "one," maybe there is someone preset for you...too bad if you are called to celibacy, sorry bub. But really maybe there is that one person you are designed to be with, your soul mate of sorts... What do you think, is the "one" an unshakable truth or a rather unfortunate fairy tale? Post Reply

Posted : 18 Jun, 2010 08:36 AM I think that there could be "the one" simply based on the concept that God created Eve specifically for Adam and above that...the fact that God did so becasue He concluded that is wasn't good for man to be alone. However, I do think that with the number of women in the world today...that perhaps there could be more than "the one" and it is up to the couple to devote themselves to each other and God and allow God to strenghten that bond with love. We have to follow what we know is right. If we do that, we'll end up where God wants us. If we don't, we'll end up where He doesn't want us. He already knows everything though....it's complicated...anyway...I'm honestly not sure if there is "the one". I don't think there is "one" in the traditional sense...but I think God knows who we'll end up with, or if we'll end up with someone...and depending on whether or not we're trying to follow Him, He'll work to bring "good" into the lives of those who love Him, I.E. a good lasting relationship. :peace::peace: Post Reply

Posted : 1 Jul, 2010 09:47 PM I don't believe in the fairytale/hollywood concept of "the one", i s'ppose it might make sense to someone who is a 5 point calvinist, but I believe man has a certain amount of free will to choose what they want to do with their lives and who they spend their lives with - if anyone. Actually theres a man named Gary Gilley who wrote a good book ("Is That You Lord?") on this very subject. It was quite a challenging read, but very edifying. Post Reply

Posted : 26 Jul, 2010 03:38 PM For a time I believed in "the one" but now being old enough to realize what actually is happening. I have never been married so i cant say that people that get divorced just don't try. i do know that there are more woman in the world now then there are men. Some people are meant to be married because they will make a team that is pleasing to the lord for example Abraham and Sara but there are people in this world that are meant to be single. I do believe that if your are meant to marry then GOD dose have someone fore you to marry but i don't know if there is on that has your name stamped on there forehead thought. Post Reply

Plus how would you know if the person was the one? Post Reply

God is all about choices. He never force us to do anything so if there was only one person for you then that would be God not giving a choice but a stipulation............ God loves us and he has created many people to love us...... We decide who we want to marry and spend our lives with!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, some people make that decision with the wrong motives and expectations and that leads to disaster... Post Reply

Posted : 31 Aug, 2010 08:35 AM I believe that the decision is never our own, because when it all boils down to it, GOD still has to make it official, and we still need his permission. If GOD sees that that person is not right for you, and he sees that that person is going to hurt you, then he will make things happen for you and that person to separate, believe it or not. Post Reply
