I met one guy on this site who has become a good online friend, but because of the 550+ miles between us, we've never met. It's hard to really date someone if you can't meet them. Even talking on the phone or on Skype isn't the same. Right now, I'm dating a guy who only lives about 50 miles away. That's close enough for us to get together about once per week. I wouldn't want to date someone much farther away, though. After a while of driving long distances, it would either become too much of a burden to continue dating, or it would pressure one person to move closer to the other, or it would rush an engagement and marriage. That is just my opinion on it. If it works for you, great! It just didn't for me, and I don't ever see it working for me. Post Reply

Posted : 5 Mar, 2010 08:03 PM I think it depends on the person if the relationship will work or not; and how much effort they put in the relationship.If the people want it to work and put alot of effort in making it work then it will but if there's not alot of effort it won't work. Relationships require time, and a lot of people are already busy. I think it really depends on the people, like others have said, but eventually your going to have to make a choice and someones going to have to move closer. I think that choice has to be made after a few months, because most people are getting significantly attached by then. It takes two unique people to make long distance work. You have to be slow on getting close to someone (which is great, you get to develop that deep friendship type bond), and that feeling has to be mutual for it to possibly work. Post Reply

In two weeks, I'll be meeting an awesome guy that I've been getting to know over the past several weeks. We've already talked about what the future would look like if things became more serious. I think this can actually work out because I have to move anyway this summer for school and then again in December when I finish school, but I haven't decided on where exactly. This guy I met actually lives a lot closer to my parents and other family members than I do, so it just might be that God is doing something with this! We shall see - in two weeks we be able to spend time together and figure out of this is going to work. Please pray for us! Post Reply

My last relationship was long distance and it lasted for a good long while. The problem with distance is that you need to have a plan in place for one person to move closer to the other for it to be able to work. If that plan isn't there then you wind up going years on a long-distance basis and there's only so far your relationship can go. Post Reply
