Why is it that if you tell anyone else on campus that you don't drink or party, they look at you like a freak of nature? Anyone else have that problem?

I have that problem to..

Partying and drinking is socially acceptable.

Bible says not to be of this world and that know one can serve two master's. You either hate one or love the other.

I think it's sad that that young adults and well i guess any one of any age think partying is "cool"

I think it's so juevinal(sp?) and really lame.

God doesn't want us intoxicating ourselfs and putting ourselves at risk for un-Holy behaviour...

I'm not in college so i don't really know how your college is..but my high school was one of the worst in my City..it had a day-care in it, for students babies...that's how many students were preggo...

There was a lot of pressure..and it jsut was uncommon not to drink and do drugs...

Hang in there broski

Probly, no, definitly cuz they're under 21 and inexperienced. There's only so many times you can be unreasonably angry, excitable, and foolish in general, wretch, pass out in filth, freeze in the drive way, and wake up with massive head aches, nasuea, sore throat before it loses it's charm and starts seeming like your time and money could be better spent.

They will always disagree with us because we are supposed to be different from them. I experience all those things but they don't bother me because, I know what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and I'm happy to be a child of God

Hence why I'm transferring to a Christian university next year. While I know that some on campus will still choose to drink...my hope is that there won't be as many folks that do and I can actually join a club without being looked down upon for not drinking.

You must be around some bad Christians, then. Public schools are way worse off. Considering my school was at the top of Playboy's "Biggest Party Schools" last decade, I think I'd rather go the the Christian school in the next town. Thanks for your input, though.

It really depends upon the Christian school. I attended a Christian college, and now teach at that same college. It is NOT a party school. Instead, it is a Christ-centered school that has high standards of conduct, and if students wish to remain at the school, they must follow the rules. None of the "rules" are intended to be outrageous, unnecessarily restrictive, or legalistic. Instead, the rules are in place to maintain a wholesome environment that places God first.

Good luck at your new school. And when others criticize you for your standards, don't let it bother you.

I couldn't agree more. One reason I chose not to have friends at college and high school for the most part is because of all the peer pressure to go to parties, clubs, etc. Getting those weird looks or people judging you/calling you names just because you don't like partying or aren't a social butterfly got old quick.
