GUYS! I NEED YOUR HELP!!
This is the story about my mom's friend Wiola
Wiola, the most beautiful, selfless person I know, has dedicated her life to guiding others by being a teacher. But she�d never stop at her job, helping others learn in all areas of life: how to start a career, love, be a better person. Wiola has an amazing capacity to love and care for others. She has touched the lives of many, from all over the world.
Now she needs the help of others. In 2002, at only 31, Wiola was diagnosed with ALS while pregnant with her daughter, Oliwka. For the last 7 years Wiola�s been bed-ridden, unable do anything without assistance. Her family, friends and students� past and present, flocked to her side, helping any way they can. Wiola�s single-room apartment was a thoroughfare for people feeding, washing and dressing her, or just keeping her spirits up. The ALS worsened, and Wiola is no longer able move, hug her daughter or even speak. She and Oliwka live in a crowded apartment with her parents, who look after her despite their own poor health. Oliwka�s grandparents are now also her custodians, as Wiola�s husband abandoned them soon after the diagnosis.
The ALS will continue to shut her body down� one day Wiola will need machines to breathe. But there is hope - a new treatment that could slow down the disease by years. The troops have rallied by Wiola�s side, doing everything they can to help their beloved teacher and friend receive this treatment. Not a day passes without fundraising ideas: art auctions, concerts, sales of treasured possessions. Wiola has been showered with donations, but there is still a long way to go to reach Wiola�s goal of a longer, happier life, and more time spent with her beautiful daughter.
