Dreams and visions

I once prayed a prayer and asked God to show me the woman I was to marry, on the second night I had a fascinating dream and sure enough, I saw a girl around the same age. She lived in a different country and I still remember every detail of that dream to this day - it's been almost 12 years.

I also have had other dreams that are quite vivid, some of them came to pass and others are more like a battle in the spiritual realm. Are dreams and visions still relevant for believers today? Am I to wait for the girl of my dreams or just go with the flow of things?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts :)

Jah bless,

Ken

I have experienced vivid dreams myself. Some have stayed with me to this day. When I was a teen I thought that I was expecting and the dr and tests told me otherwise. I started dreaming and I knew they were wrong. One dream was reoccuring. In this dream I had a young child with me and he began to run away, he was dressed in blue with dark hair and skin. Later I found out I was pregnant all along and when it came to deciding on a name I chose the name I called out in this dream. "Joshua" He is nine now and he brought me back to Christ. :)( He has dark hair and skin)

I don't have any answers about your dream but I know that dreams can be messages sent to comfort or help us along the way.

A couple yrs back I dreamnt about someone being ill with an gastrointestinal issue. I heard the torment the person was going through in my dream...my dad called from the hospital the nxt day.

Crazy but keep the faith. I think the Lord reveals to us only what is necessary on our path for today. Any more could be overwhelming.

Blessings!

Thanks a lot, SuperMami! You have quite an amazing testimony concerning the birth of your child :) I have heard similar stories like yours and I believe it is true that some parents actually get to meet their children before they even conceive! I have no doubt that it is God's doing.

It is very encouraging to know that Im not alone concerning dreams and visions :)

God is good,

I have had dreams that have happened before. Like years ago I saw 2 towers catch fire and burn down and collapse. The next day was 9/11.... I've had one vision. At the time I was struggling with doubt in my salvation. And I saw a vision and in it Jesus was tied to a post and a roman soldier stood next to Him holding a whip. The roman soldier said "this is for the sins you have done" and wipped Him then the soldier said "this is for the sins you are doing" and wipped Him again and then the soldier said "this is for the sins you will do" and wipped Him again. Then the scene changed and Jesus was being nailed to the cross and I was told to nail His hand to the cross and I didn't want to and Jesus looked at me and said "its ok I love you." So I nailed Him to it the whole time saying I was sorry then the vision was over.

My thoughts...

Are dreams and visions important for us today? I believe that they are very important and that God does speak to many people in that way if only we take the time to listen.

As far as your dream in particular I have had similar experiences and the whole wondering if the person in my dream is "the one" and so forth. There are several things that I think are important to consider here...1 is your personal conviction, no matter what others tell you the dream means if in your heart you believe god is telling you something different follow that leading...2 our dreams and our interpretations of them are easily influenced by our personal expectations (my personal experience here)...3 (and this is more my personal conviction with these things) God gives us choice, and while I believe that there is an element of God preordaining a certain relationship for me, I also believe that I could be happily married to a number of women who are sold out for God. There is a lot of imagery in the bible surrounding marriage, and at the time they practiced "arranged marriages" however that didn't mean the parents didn't involve their children in that decision. While it is possible that the girl in your dream was "the one" God has for you, I believe it could also be God just saying that this is something that is important to him and that as your heavenly father he is working on coordinating a good match for you and that is one of the potential soul mates he found.

Let me know what you guys think about this cause it is something that has been bouncing around in my head quite a bit lol

Esmith06:

Interesting response, man :)

I have no doubt that God spoke to me through that dream, but like u said, there could be misinterpretation on my part(it happens).

The only thing that holds me to this dream are the stories of people in the Old Testament. We can learn from their mistake of taking matters into their own hands due to lack of faith/trust and patience. Making hasty decisions based on our reasoning can create problems that could have been avoided if we had only waited on the Lord.

Living by faith can be quite scary 'cause there's no logical explanation, but if we truly trust in God we will listen and obey Him. I guess that's why you - as well as I - are still single

Emmanuel,

Ken

Do not rely upon your dreams but the written word of God. The day of new revelations is over, and He's spoken to us by the Son. The signs and wonders, follow your dream gospel, is a lie.

I don't know what to tell you about your dream, but know that not every dream and vision is of God. He CERTAINLY isn't giving anyone any new revelations. Everything must line up w/ the Book.

Take care, and best wishes finding her.
