I personally do this for devotionals... I subscribe to one of the various free daily devotional publications. Then for each day I look at the verses being discussed FIRST before reading the publications comments... next I read the verses in my Bible 3 times through... next I break down the text using the devontional Bible study method. After breaking down the verse using s.t.a.r. p.e.t.s. I then go back and read what the booklet had to day for that days devotion.

I find it a very rewarding time in the Word. Of course I then let my pastor review my devotional study for errors in any step of my breakdown or if I have any questions about differences between my results and the booklets discussion.

What's your style? I pray the Daily Office every day using the Celtic Daily Prayer book from the Northumbria Community and the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. The CDP has some great daily readings and meditations that I incorporate into my morning and evening prayers. I also pray an Anglican rosary using the Lord's Prayer on the cross, the "glory be" on the invitatory, "guide me waking and guard me sleeping" on the cruciforms, and the Jesus prayer on the weeks. I have a smartphone with a Daily Bible app that has a bunch of reflections and devotions that you can use also.

Hey,

I do a devotional every day and right now I'm reading the Book of Job. The book is challenging and good.

When I do my devotions I read 1 chapter a day and write down questions to challenge my brain a little and answer the questions based on what I feel God telling me through His word. So far doing devtions this way inspires me, God is so Good!!! :)

And I take down a prayer list every week

and pray for the listed prayers for that week.

Also try doing your devotions in the morning before eating, it's a challenge because as humans we need food in the morning but we think we need it first thing in the morning; however God should always be first.

God is Great!! :yay:
