I notice some guy profiles on my searches have photos outdoors and some may even have one in races. I am wondering how many of the members here like to run? Indoors? Outdoors? Treadmill? What is your prefect setting for running? Do you also register and run road races or trail races? Which is the most fun race you participated in?

I run on the treadmill indoors while on campus, outdoors when close to home. I like sunny weather for running. Cold is okay, but not snow. I have registered and participated in a few races in the last few years, mostly in the 5K, 10K and half marathon range. I think the most challenging races tend to be the most fun for me.

My perfect setting is running outdoors a little before sunrise or after sunset when it's nice & cool out, if not i run indoors. For some reason i can't stay focused on running while i'm on a treadmill so i gotta have a t.v. in front or some music playing lol.

Do you usually run outdoors with music (ipod or something?).

I try not to do that because races don't allow it (although a lot of people break that rule). It is supposed to be for your safety. I think it is because you can notice and hear who might be coming up right behind you to pass you.

What kind of music do you use for running?

I agree morning is good weather. Sometimes at the end of the day is good too, before it gets dark. It is not supper hot or cold.

Blessings and hope all your miles get done running!

Oh outdoors i don't use music, as long as i got a nice path in front of me i'm good to go :D. Indoors i listen to a lot of random music from artists, movies, games etc. Here's a few of them:

DMX- Lord Give Me A Sign

Linkin Park- P5hng Me A*wy (i prefer the live concert version from TX)

Paul Hertzog- Father & Son (used in Bloodsport movie)

Survivor- Eye Of The Tiger (i think everyone has this one )

Chamillionaire- Rocky Road

The Fifth Element- Five Millenia Later

Metal Gear Solid (random soundtracks throughout the series)

Depending on the song i'll listen to it on speakers instead of ipod :).

Thanks for the new leads on tunes. If anything, I listen to army cadence. Sometimes the cadence is just on my head, and I just keep thinking about them over and over. There are other songs on my shuffle, but they are pretty fast paced that I don't really listen to the words, just the beat to pace myself.

I've just started doing treadmill work. I found this running program on the Navy's pre-boot camp conditioning information. I'm not joining, but it's a good program to take you from zero to running at a steady pace. My goal is to run at least one charity 5k this year.
