Truly followers of Christ?

Question...

How many people on here ACTUALLY have a relationship with Christ? Because...there are some major slime balls on here too just like anywhere else. But...I mean...I came on here thinking hey, they specifically chose a 'christian' site so...maybe the chances are better meeting someone real here? And then guys message me saying "wow I'm impressed you actually are following the Lord" and I'm thinking...well...yea...?

But apparently that's not as much the case as we'd all think it is...?

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Thanks!:waving:

Sigh, yeah I know what you mean. Maybe not on this site specifically; I haven't actually had much interaction with other individuals yet. But I go to a Christian university, and I understand what you're talking about. Sadly, it seems like the majority of my peers are conforming to a Christian standard instead of actually having the personal relationship with Jesus in their own lives. Some of them go along to be slimeballs one layer beneath the skin, while I think that most of them genuinely believe themselves to be "following Christ" because they don't know anything else, were raised like that or perhaps they don't know what they're missing out on because they have yet to truly experience the power of the Lord in their lives in a personal and miraculous way.

So, I don't know if that answers your question. Most Christians, in my opinion, are either deceiving themselves or deceiving others with their "Churchianity" as I prefer to call it (cultural Christianity, spiritually something less). I wouldn't be surprised if that's a pronounced reality on sites such as this one, specifically this one even. But, I have no direct evidence to tie here; just observations of my classmates.

* NOTE, though we are called not to judge others who are not Christians, we have a familial obligation to correct our brothers and sisters if they are woefully lacking and also not growing on their own. If someone claims to be a Christian, they have no defense against the "don't judge me" we are not to do to non-believers. Remember, Jesus didn't 'judge' the company he kept of tax collectors and other moral unsavories, yet he pulled no punches when it came to the religious leaders of the time, simply because they claimed to be something they were not, and misleading others harmfully while they also mislead themselves. All that to say: I do not judge others for not being as they should be; that's between them and God. But if they claim to be walking with him while not truly doing so... they invite correction.

By their fruit you shall know them. Don't just read their profiles, see what they post in the forums (if possible), engage them in conversation - after a while you'll get to see who they really are.

Just don't forget, even sold-out for God Christians aren't perfect - think about all the OT heroes who each failed in some way or another!

This all is VERY very true.

Thanks for your response, yes it does answer my question... It's just so...I don't know what the right word is...misleading? Disappointing? I mean, you'd think right? But...then it all becomes so full of deceit and things. It's tiresome.

Thanks for the reply guys! It all makes a lot of sense.

I think it's sadly true of any 'christian' gathering. There are a few who are real, true-blue followers of Christ Jesus; but sadly there are many who tack the badge onto their shirt, pick up a bible they never plan on reading and call themselves by the same name.

I didn't sign up on here thinking I'd find 'the one' right off and live happily ever after, but it was a little bit of a let down to find that even here there are so many people who seem to have gotten as far as 'free dating' and signed up.

Sorry, but if a guy signed up here looking for a 'good little christian girl' to be his 'angel' or something, maybe he should think a bit harder about what scripture really says about dating, marriage, men and women and the sort of relationship that God created and called good. Just saying. :)

Some things can't be faked. Thank the Lord for the Real ones out there! :applause:
