Summer Plans?

Summer break is fast approaching for some of us, so does anyone have exciting plans for the summer?

I have two more weeks before I am done for the year, then I plan to take a week off to relax and visit my family in Wichita (I haven't seen them since Christmas break). I'm doing a Primary Care Preceptorship over the summer so I will essentially be spending a lot of time shadowing a couple of doctors. I'll spend four weeks with a pediatrician in St. Louis and then four weeks with a family practice doctor in Wichita so that I can have some more time at home with my family since this is my last real summer break.

So what are your summer plans? Will you travel? Will you work? Take classes? Visit family or friends? Relax by the pool?

Ah, the BEST part of being a college teacher...4 months of "paid" vacation every single year! (3 weeks of Christmas Break, 1 week of Spring Break, 3 full months of Summer Break, and various other breaks/holidays throughout the year!)

I started my official Summer Break last Saturday afternoon after graduation. Of course, I have my part-time private piano students who still have a couple more weeks of lessons, so my Monday afternoons won't be free until the end of May. My students have their end-of-the-year recital tomorrow, and things will slow down even more after that. I do have "big plans" for the rest of this summer, though!

A few weeks from now, a good friend of mine (that I met on CDFF) is traveling through Georgia with his family. They are just passing through on their way elsewhere, but will be stopping for a couple days to visit family members who live just a couple hours away from my town. If it works out schedule-wise, he and I are going to try to get together for at least a couple hours' visit. That ought to be a lot of fun if it works out! (I'm trying not to get my hopes up...there is a pretty good chance that it won't work out.)

My family is also taking a week-long vacation this summer. We don't know where we are going yet, but we are looking at places in the Smoky Mountains...anything to get away from the heat!

Later in the summer, I'm going to Kentucky for a week to visit a friend from college. She and her husband moved up there a few years ago, but this will be the first time I've been able to go visit them. They have an absolutely adorable one-year-old little girl that I'm looking forward to playing with, too! She's precious!

I also imagine we'll be paying my grandparents a visit at some point this summer. That'll be nice...and hot, since they live in Florida!

1) Find a job somewhere.

2) Get Forklift Certification.

3) Grow a goatee (haven't had one for three years).

4) Get some exercise.

5) Find a place to live.

6) Have a social life, or something close to it.

7) Take over the world.

I'll be going to school summer quarter, though I'll have about a month break b/w that and fall quarter starting up in September. I have sooo much stuff to do. I need to fill out my transfer application to transfer back to the University of Washington (in January), and I'm trying to get a couple different websites going, and my one friend and I will be leading a ladies Bible study over the summer. I'm taking a class through Child Evangelism Fellowship right now, too, which will go for part of the summer, as well.
