Is it still suicide if you're going to die anyway and you kill yourself to stop from being in a more painful or undignified way? Like say you're being shredded by a bear and someone with a gun finds you but you're already in pieces and going to die anyway, would it be suicide if you told them to shoot you to put you out of your misery or shot to stop from being further tormented by the bear? Would God forgive you for that? Or I guess no one really knows. And could drinking, cigarttes, and drugs but forms of suicide aswell? Even though they don't kill you instantly but over time they can of course. Just some things I've been thinking about.

Wow! You young people dwell on deep issues! I'm impressed! Certainly got me wondering as well, especially when I found a young man on the chat forum who sounded like he was only moments away from heading the wrong way down that one way road.

So here's more to wonder about . . . If it's adultery just to look upon a woman and imagine intimacy with her (remember when Jesus raised the bar in this NT conversation?) where would Jesus set the bar in this case?

Wouldn't having contemplated suicide be sinful in itself? It certainly doesn't make the list of things he commanded us to "think upon".

Taking a life that isn't yours (if you gave it to Jesus) and that God hasn't commanded you to take (as he did in the Old Testament) is overriding His plans and purposes. And believe me, it's NOT difficult to go there in your heart and head if you are grieving deeply or suffering tremendously physically. I'm just glad Jesis didn't ask anyone in the crowed along the road to Calvary to put him out of his unparalleled misery . . . aren't you?
