Whose more shallow??

Whose more shallow? Two situations...tell me which one you think is being more shallow.

1) A guy who looks for physically beautiful women then gets to know them but when he finds out that their personalities don't jive, then he moves on.

OR

2)A girl who is looking for the right personality and then when she finds it she will only look for more in that relationship if the guy is physically what she is after.

Perhaps both are shallow...thoughts?

I'd say both are shallow? I mean, if I'm out somewhere and I see a girl I've never seen before and I go up to talk to her, it's based purely off of looks. There's no two ways about it. That being said, that doesn't mean it's lustful, or that I'm being shallow, but if I only see the girl, then I have to say it's based off looks, cause what else do I know about her? If I were blind, I'd have to rely on other cues. And then people could judge you for only talking to someone because of how they sound, if I was blind and deaf, I could only judge someone by how they feel, and boy oh boy does that sound wrong! But I hope you catch my drift...?

As far as women seeking personalities in men, there are places that most types of guys will tend to avoid. You tend not to find jocks in bookstores, you don't see "nerds" at car shows etc. etc, so it's really easy for girls to narrow down the kind of guy they'll meet by where they meet him. (And yes, there are always exceptions)

Neither is shallow. Someone has to be "pleasing to the eye" if your eventual endgame is marriage. And what is the point of dating or being a couple if you know you're never ever going to marry that person?

I agree with cowgirl1984, looks are apart of the reason you pick that person to be in a relationship. I think as long as it not the only reason your with that person, then your not being shallow.

Neither is especially shallow. Looks without personality would not make a great relationship, just as personality without looks would not make a great relationship either. There has to be balance...and fortunately for all of us, everyone has differing opinions of good looks and great personalities.

I'd say neither is shallow. On the contrary both are intentional in their search and both are (somewhat) balanced.

I don't see how assigning each scenario to a gender is supposed to make any difference, since both could happen to either one.

If someone has to be pleasing to the eye, then what hope is there for someone not so appealing?

I agree that neither is shallow.

Sometimes personality enhances or tears down an appearance if that makes sense.
