Dad's surgery is Thurs. morning the 30th. I will be traveling to Omaha with my parents on Wed. evening.

Please pray that the surgeon will get all of the cancer and radiation won't be necessary. That the tumor can be removed without extensive damage to cartilidge and bone and that his nose will not be totally removed. That since my sister & brother will not be there, that I will be able to handle Mom's anxiety. That I will lean on God for strength.

Thanks,

Rose

Thanks for your prayers!

They removed 1/2 of Dad's nose and 1/3 of his lip. The lip was a surprise. They couldn't tell from the CT that the tumor went down that far. They got all of the tumor out of his cheek, so they reconstructed his cheek and lip, but are waiting for the final pathology report to find out if they got all of it from the nose. For some reason, they couldn't be certain. So, they packed his nose and we brought him home yesterday afternoon. Plastic surgery is amazing. You wouldn't know that they did anything except remove part of his nose. He is having problems while eating. When his mouth moves, his nose moves and drainage seeps from his nose, down his lip, and into his food, if no one is there to help him.

He has an appointment with the surgeon to get the packing changed on the 11th. The 2nd surgery can't be scheduled 'til they receive the final report and know how much needs to be done.

His spirits are good. He's frustrated with the drainage down his throat. He has bad allergies and cannot take his med right now, so he has mucus, blood, and oozing sliding down his throat. Breathing through his mouth has caused a lot of indigestion. However, considering what he has been through, those are minor side effects.

Thank you for continued prayer!

Rose

My daughter spent the afternoon with her grandpa. He is not sleeping and my Mom seems to have shut down mentally and emotionally but won't accept help.

Please pray that all of my Dad's needs would be met and he would get enough sleep to heal.

Thanks!

My sister lives 5 hrs. away. She wants to come and be of assistance to Dad. Dad wants her to come, but Mom doesn't. Please pray that my sister would discern the best decision.

Thanks!

Thanks Jude,

REALLY appreciate it. It's hard to watch someone you love suffer.

I took supper over and Dad ate or maybe I should say inhaled a lot of food. That was encouraging. Mom is finally too exhausted to fight and is now accepting help. My sister is coming this weekend (and in time for my daughter's choir concert.)

Hoping my sister-in-law takes in food tomorrow and am failing at getting a hold of my cousin for Wed. The next 2 days are too busy for me.

God is answering prayer and I can feel Him at work. Thanks again.

Rose
