Imagine that your Soul or Id or whatever you call the decision maker in your mind or heart, was on an island surrounded by a large body of water and all the information your five senses collected had to travel across that body of water and then pass through customs before reaching your decision maker.
So assuming that everyones senses are intact and not damaged meaning the color red looks red (not shades of gray, as would be seen by those that are colorblind) and the word summer looks like S_U_M_M_E_R, not S_M_U_R_E_M, as someone with dyslexia might see it, then we all should be receiving the Same Information and youd think we would be coming to the same conclusions.
The reasons we dont is because of the body of water and customs check point that the information has to pass through.
The body of water is our emotional state at the time we receive the information. Lets say that the information or data is carried in a small boat and stacked in a precise order. If we are upset or our state of being is altered -- that body of water becomes choppy at best down right treacherous at worst (with large waves that could turn that boat over with the loss of All Data) and we receive the information with some of it being lost overboard or its become garbled or misarranged. Alcohol, drugs, anger, fears and so on will definitely alter how we perceive information.
So we have one means of altering data that we receive.
There is another way in addition to this one and the most common way we alter the information we receive and that is the filtering mechanism (our customs check point) we use. This filtering system is our own Unique and Separate way of seeing Reality -- our very own Separate Reality (from the Book Sanity, Insanity and Common Sense) which is build up over time by our Beliefs, Life Experiences, Prejudices, Religion, Culture, Media and the list goes on. This Belief System is our Separate Reality that filters whatever data we receive.
This is why some people can justify murdering innocent humans or heinous crimes to them it is acceptable behavior. That is why people think the way they do, why they Stereotype people and why prejudice is prevalent. Everyone has their own Separate Reality, their own unique way of seeing things.
My point in all of this is that we make decisions based on how we feel at that time, which later on we say Why did I do that? and regret doing it. Well, DuhI already knew that! you might say. What I want to get across is that we all need to hold up our major decisions to God, so as to compare them with what we know God wants us to do as Christians. Our hearts and minds may tell us to do one thing, while our soul knows it is not what God wants us to do.
Conversely, we do not need to beat down those that make mistakes but instead we need to Hold Them Up to The Lord for guidance and help.
So, to make a really long story short Let Christ Calm your Waters and let God be your Customs Check Point.
Peace
Everyone on the planet should read this book!
Sanity, Insanity, and Common Sense: The Groundbreaking New Approach to Happiness by Rick Suarez, Ph.D. Roger C. Mills, Ph.D. Darlene Stewart, M.S.
Whatever the reality we can overcome the mind. Thoughts turn into imaginations. Imaginations turn into strongholds. Strongholds can be torn down,2 Cor 10:5b,
"bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,"
This is a mandatory skill for God's warriors seeking to fight the good fight.
Are thoughts are an indicator of what we are creating. If we catch ourselves and if we are in The Light of Jesus -- He will help us to stop creating that emotion or desire -- thereby controlling that which will kill the body. It takes complete surrender of your will to God, but I am living proof of it's power.
Yup, as Christians our will should be in tune with God's will. Unfortunately most people don't take the time to understand God's will by reading the bible...which would explain a lot of the moral decay we're seeing. If you don't know the truth, you won't put it into practice.
