dear folks, i read where folks in california are tryin to get on the ballot to outlaw divorce.. although this is the same people that want to legalize gay marriages..

i would support outlawing divorce only if they allowed the biblical reasons for divorce to remain intact.. how bout you?

I think we should target the root of the problem instead of the symptom. Instead of taking away freedom...maybe we should encourage morals and commitment...and lead by example.

dear hitman, ya know folks have been encouraging morals and committment for years and years and years..

and that hadnt stopped folks from leavin and divorcing for any ole reason.. i mean you dont even have to have cause now.. there is really no incentive for folks to stay through hard patches or rough times.. and there is also no incentive for folks to keep from kickin someone out when theyre not happy or satisfied with where theyre at..

divorce is just too easy an option. i mean look at me hehe before i really understood marriage and divorce.. it was just too easy to get a divorce.. also i believe if it was much harder to get a divorce then folks would think much harder about their choice of spouse before getting married...

Yes, I saw that. Very interesting. Some average joe kind of guy thought that, since the voters voted down the law to allow gay marriages, he wants to outlaw divorce. His reasoning is that since the objection was marriage is biblically between a man and woman, divorce should be against the law, too. He's had mixed support. I think your idea about allowing the biblical exceptions is a good idea.

lol, thats kinda a good point...but I think people should be free to choose. I don't believe taking away peoples choices is a biblical way to go about stuff. The reason there is so much divorce is not because it's "legal". It's because we've failed to uphold our principles and to pass them on to our children. We've let schools raise our children and then act surprised when they don't turn out like we wanted them to. Murder is illegal...it hasn't slowed that down at all. People are what need to be changed, and "force" is never the best way....although it is necessary sometimes. I believe the "christian way" you get people to stop is by showing them a better way. Legislating morals isn't a great idea in my opinion. Maybe it's necessary though...

If the person proposed this legislation simple because they were upset that a gay marriage" law didnt pass, then we shouldnt be surprised.

Satan tried to use Scripture to tempt Jesus Christ but he twisted Gods word. I.e. Matt4:6 lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone. He was miss quoting Psalm91:12 He added "at any time". If we slip and fall in front of a car and God has more work for us to do we will be helped but if we stand in the middle of the freeway and say God will save me we have tempted God.

God divorced Israel for fornication Jer3:6-9. And Christ again said that only fornication is grounds for divorce Matt5:31-31.

I never thought Id be where I am now. My wife left to find herself. So what do I do if she likes being single but has not committed fornication?

i think divorce is not a recognized by God. thus i do not think it exists. as for the gays....i don't think it matters much, if they believe they are gay what's to stop them from getting married? render unto ceasar's what it his...imo.

outlawing divorce and legalizing gay marriage will not change God's standard, so why should i worry about it?

Well...God does recognize divorce...and gay marriage is wrong by definition. I really don't care though...I just want them to call it something else. I don't understand why homosexuals(one of the least christian types of people out there) want to be united under a christian tradition.
