As I'm sure many others do. Out of observance over time I notice a lot of guys with thier shirt off, ladies with low shirts, and answer on question about drinking is mostly answered "socially." All people need a gentle reminder that God loves you, he desires you, all of you. Total surrender, a REAL relationship with his people. He hasn't come to take away our fun, he's come to take away our PAIN. To bless us when we TRUST him with our lives. Whom ever reads this I would like you to take a moment and pray this prayer: Lord my heart breaks tonight. We need you to come in and be more real in our lives than ever! To take ahold of our desires and give us a fresh set of yours. Lift the veil from our eyes and soften our hearts to your truth. Let us not cling to the ways of this world but to you. You said you were the bread of life and the living water. No one who pursues you will ever hunger or thirst for anything again. Lord let us really see that the things we fill our lives with are empty, pale, and poor, compared to knowing you Lord. Amen. Posted : 9 Dec, 2009 04:54 PM The other stuff I'll agree with you on, but there is nothing biblical or appropriate about a Christian looking down on Christians who drink occasionally or socially. As long as said people aren't getting drunk or becoming dependent on it, there's nothing wrong with having the occasional drink. I charge you to find a verse that proves me wrong. Everything in the bible says to not be drunk. It doesn't say not to ever drink. It even says a glass of wine a day is healthy. Jesus turned water into wine. There are tons of verses about wine. Not drinking and looking down on those who do is just part of a strict rules-based Christian upbringing that you (and millions of other Christians) have unfortunately had. Yes, some people become alcoholics by drinking alcohol. That doesn't mean everybody who does is going to--not any more than a person who takes aspirin is going to become a pain-killer addict.
